In yet another move to cleanse New Mexico of any and all environmental regulations, green, clean, renewable energy initiatives and efforts to mitigate the growing impact of damaging climate change, GOP Gov. Susana Martinez today named a climate change denier to head New Mexico's Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department. She's cleansing so her big donors can dirty things up with abandon in the state, as never before.
Martinez has chosen former astronaut and senator from New Mexico, Harrison "Jack" Schmitt, aged 75, as a prominent partner in her planned environmental retreat back to the 1950s. Schmitt said as much, right out loud, at today's announcement of his nomination:
Rational. Right. According to the "rational" dictates of Martinez's fossil-fuel energy donors to make more money regardless of what they destroy in the process. Here's an article about some of Schmitt's nefarious connections to oil company-funded groups that work to undermine genuine climate science. By the way, Schmitt has never published a peer-reviewed paper on the topic of climate change. Get the picture?I think New Mexico's been ill-served in the past few years. It's very clear that energy-related jobs have been migrating away from the state of New Mexico, and it's time to make sure, in a rational way, that those jobs come back.

You know, there is no 1st amendment right attached to libel and this is certainly actionable.
I am sick and tired of these vicious lies being printed with no legal challenge.
Force them into court and make them show, under oath, the factual basis for the above statement.

I think I love this governor. Maybe I'll move to New Mexico.
He received a B.S. degree in science from the California Institute of Technology in 1957 and then spent a year for graduate studying geology at the University of Oslo in Norway. He received a Ph.D. in geology from Harvard University in 1964, based on his geological field studies in Norway.
And he was the next to last man to walk on the Moon. If I recall correctly, he was the Astronaut who found the "Genesis Rock" on the Moon -- the oldest bit of our solar system that we know of -- 4+ billion years old.
God bless you Dr. Schmitt and New Mexico is blessed to have a real scientist addressing this environmental stuff instead of more money grubbing agenda driven politicians pretending to be scientists.
Suppose he knows as much as Algore?
Just as a guess, I'd say he knows a thing or two, or maybe even three orders of magnitude more about science than the Senator's Son -- who managed to get a spectacular C- in a 101 level science class, his only college level science course.
Just guessing of course, but then again, Schmitt does not have a Nobel Prize or even an Oscar like the Senator's Son does. ;~))

Harrison Schmitt is also a MOONWALKER, only 1 of 12 human beings to walk on the Moon.
