Why Governor Palin must be the GOP Nominee
EEE | 27 MARCH 2011 | EEE

Posted on 03/27/2011 9:08:15 AM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

Governor Palin must be the GOP nominee because of energy.

Energy will arguably be the top issue facing America in 2012. The rise in fuel prices also brings about a rise in commodity and food prices, as those products are trucked, shipped, and flown to their destinations. I work in transportation logistics, and I can tell you first hand that fuel prices are so high, drivers for most of the carriers my account is contracted to are refusing to haul freight unless they get additional money for fuel. There are over 6,000 products made from petroleum. Here is a partial list of them. That means the prices of those goods will also skyrocket.

It is suicidal for the U.S., or any country for that matter, to lock up its reserves and continue to transfer billions of dollars to foreign regimes who loathe America to import their resources. None of the other potential GOP candidates or even elected Republicans right now have touched on this. Only Palin has talked about the $10 billion the U.S. loaned to Brazil for Petrobras and the oil rigs that are shutting down in the Gulf of Mexico because of Obama's regulations. Palin understands that with sound energy comes liberty and away from meddling in Middle Eastern politics.

Palin has never supported anthropogenic global warming. The sub-cabinet she created as Governor was for naturally-occurring climate change, and even then the sub-cabinet was a watchdog-type agency to study the issue, not a regulatory one. As President, Palin will rein in the EPA and reform the Energy and Interior Depts as well, and give more authority to state DNR agencies. Palin does not support cap and trade, while the other GOP candidates have, including Pawlenty, Romney, and Christie, who all support a regional version of it.

Governor Palin does support renewable energy (Alaska is already at 25% of her goal for renewable energy), but only as a long-term goal and only to supplement conventional energies until their use becomes viable and cost-effective. Nationally, Palin does not support them right now and have rejected their premise of it outright in her speech in India last week. Solar, wind, ethanol, fuel from garbage, skittles crapped from unicorns....these are simply not viable and they do not work unless via massive government mandates and massive government subsidies. When Palin is talking about an "all of the above" approach to energy, she is CLEARLY talking about proven, existing fuels: Coal, nuclear, natural gas, petroleum, hydroelectric, and geothermal. Palin is also not afraid to explore new and groundbreaking energy sources, such as methane hydrates, coal to oil conversion, hydrogen energy (fuel cells), pebble-bed nuclear plants, and nuclear fusion. The other candidates would continue the same-old status-quo of complicating the tax code with credits and subsidies without addressing the core, underlying issue.

Governor Palin is the ONLY Republican candidate who is not afraid to call the environmental movement for what it really is: A hypocritical, leftist movement designed not to care about the environment, but to weaken the U.S. both militarily and economically and facilitate socialism. As President, Palin will tell the envirowackos to pound sand. The other candidates will compromise, grovel, and push for more funding of "green energy" the minute some moonbat calls them a polluter.

Palin also rejects the "green job" myth and rightfully called it social engineering, in her Q & A in India after her speech. Palin knows that green jobs are nothing more than crony capitalism at the expense of working and middle-class taxpayers. She will investigate the Obama stimulus funds that went to green jobs and prosecute the crooks.

Governor Palin is not "in the pockets" of Big Oil, so it will be extremely difficult for her opponents to paint her as such. She promoted tough oversight and accountability in Alaska. But at the same time, Palin recognizes that oil companies need elbow room to do what they need to do. Therefore, Palin will work with the oil companies, and reduce frivolous lawsuits, junk science environmentalism, limit the Endangered Species Act and Clean Air Act, and other ridiculous regulations and directives that are hamstringing energy production.

By working with the oil companies, Palin will cut coastal residents and states in on the royalties, which neutralizes the NIMBY Luddites. Being that Palin is the type of person who wants everyone to benefit rather than a select few, she would probably create a national energy fund where all taxpayers would receive an annual energy rebate of some sorts.

And finally, only Palin can sell energy to a public duped by decades of liberal lies in layman's terms. This message will especially resonate with low-income residents in the Midwest and Northeast. It's BS that there's a federal heating program to help the poor pay for their heating costs in the winter. Here in WI, the law states that residents' power cannot be shut off from November to April. By the time April rolls around, a lot of people are behind and end up getting their electric shut off. Again, this is typical, knee-jerk liberalism that doesn't address the real issue but creates yet another victim class to be exploited and dependent on Democrats. Palin will end this and promote energy production as a means to lower energy prices across the board for all.

Of course, there are other valid reasons why Palin must be the GOP nominee, but energy is by far the most important reason for her to be.

She respects and adores the late Geraldine Ferraro. There's one.

I would like to know what it is about her that ‘bothers’ people. I see this time and again but nothing is ever said as to WHAT about her bothers people.
I’m just curious.

100% of Democrats and probably a third of Republicans currently depend on government corruption of some sort for their income.

None of these want their gravy train derailed.

Sarah Palin is the anti-corruption candidate.

Obviously, you do not understand how the Oil Industry works.

Your Populist plan to redistribute those Oil Company “profits” (wealth) among the American people would be less than a few dollars per person.

It's a simple fact that the very strongest oil companies, barely net between 5 to 8 percent profit, after they pay all the other Federal taxes, operating costs, environmental regulations, state taxes, drilling fees, etc,. And what little they salvage from all the handouts they are required to currently give, they would simply go broke, quit or go elsewhere.

You also are not very well schooled in Alaska History. Palins additional tax she imposed on Alaska oil companies did more damage to the industry than it helped.

Since 1976, Jay Hammond installed a plan where the Oil Companies would pay most of Alaska State's operating costs, (Called the Permanent Fund Dividend.) which averaged around 75% of the States revenues. It was also agreed that anything left over would be shared with each and every resident. (Which averages $1,000 per person annually) And the residents of the State pay no income taxes resulting from this plan.

Under the Permanent Fund Dividend plan, there was very little profit left to share, but the state benefited by all the people it employed and the economy it supported. Especially by the taxes they did not have to pay.

Palin’s punitive tax, in addition to the huge amount the Oil Industry was already paying, hindered new exploration and greatly slowed down the industry.

This is the reason that the new Governor who replaced her, lifted that tax to allow the Oil Companies to drill for new reserves again. Palin’s pipeline campaign is also considered to have been a waste of time. Even though she made the claim and took credit for building that pipeline, it never made it out of the planning stages and is now dead.

To what you didn’t say, I say Palin will take the huge amount of federal land they have acquired and sell it off to pay down the huge debt.

Your speculation is every bit as valid as the authors. Knowing the history of what happens when public lands are sold, I hope both yours and the speculation that she will nationalize energy production through some rebate nonsense, are completely wrong.

That’s true, some people on this forum have gone so far to the right, that they have unknowingly, come back out on the left.

In all fairness, I don’t believe Palin has weighed in nationally on the issues speculated on in this thread. At least I haven’t heard it if there is.

There is a big difference from actual statements by Palin and those that wish to make her their empty slate that they project their wishes upon.

RT, is there nothing about her that bothers you?

At this point, very little. The only thing I would hope for the Governor (if she runs) is that she would have a Reagan Nashua moment. I'm thinking back to when Reagan was battling Bush, Sr. in the 1980 campaign. The media was talking up Bush and attacking Reagan which was leading to a close race. IMO, the turning point was the Nashua Moment;

I think the American Public needs to see their Presidents have a firm backbone, a point where they say, "enough is enough". As trivial as it may sound, I think Gov Palin needs a similar sound bite.

Having lived in Alaska for 12 years and traveling a lot in the state, I have been on the same planes with her, to parties at the same time, I've met her.......I can't say I know her, but she IS the real deal. Most perceptions of negatives of her come from the left’s blind fear of her and the resulting villianization of her.

I don’t think even Palin would be that politically ignorant, to initiate even a fragment of what the person who wrote this vanity considers to be good policy.

“What things about her bother you?” Sounds like a trap question. RT, is there nothing about her that bothers you?

Anyone who looks at any politician, unless the person is looking in the mirror, will see things that "bother" them. There are things that bother me about Palin and things that bother me about Bachmann, but I will tell you that both of them come up to the 80 percent mark as described by Reagan (his advice that it's better to have someone you agree with 80 percent of the time than to insist on perfection and end up with no one at all). Not 60 percent, not 40 percent. Eighty percent, at minimum 75 percent. Less than that, and you end up with the terrible malaise in the Republican party that we have today. Reagan was very wise; unfortunately, many people took his words to mean that as long as the guy has an R behind his name, even if you only agree with him 40 percent of the time, you're supposed to accept that, but THAT'S NOT WHAT REAGAN SAID.

Eighty percent is good enough for me and it should be good enough for all of us. Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, DeMint -- they barely make it to 50 percent.

If you're paying attention, you know whether or not Palin hits 80 percent for you, and where the other guys are on that scale, as well. If you say "Gosh, I just don't know about her yet ... I'm going to wait and see," I roll my eyes because I recognize the words of someone who is playing games.

And 2ndDivVet, you're so right that her position, experience, and knowledge on energy alone is enough reason for Palin to clinch the nomination among sensible conservatives. It used to be that the 2nd Amendment and abortion were the true deal-breakers, but now, the "global warming" hoax is just as important. I REFUSE under any circumstances to vote for a candidate who thinks regulation of energy production and consumption is necessary to prevent climate catastrophe. You might as well ask me to vote for someone who literally believes in the tooth fairy -- I cannot, will not, and SHOULD NOT do it, and neither should anyone else.

"One thing that bothered me was her support for McCain.

You did know that she was his VP candidate, right?

"I realize it would have looked bad to come out against him."

Well I guess?

"But she didn't’t have to campaign so hard for him."

Too funny.

I wouldn’t use Alaska as an example of an energy “rebate” program possibility. Alaska is a special case because their state Constitution specifies that those types of natural resources belong to the people of the state. No similar provision exists elsewhere.

It is jealously and fear and that brings out the left’s hatred about Mrs. Palin. I love her and have great respect for her and she will have her place in our history books but don’t know if she can beat Obama. Once someone has run either in a primary or as a elected candidate they loose the fuse. We are going to need someone who ignites that fuse all over again. I know many people are skeptical but imo Trump will be the one to do that. Maybe having Mrs. Palin as Energy Secretary and Romney Treasury Secretary would be a good idea. Building a strong team around him will satisfy the party.

My points came from Palin's speeches, Facebook notes, her record, and interviews she conducted.

So there's no "projection" there.

She'll also, among her very first acts, turn on the spigots to the water for California's Central Valley farming industry, which the tree-huggers and "kill-the-American-economy" socialist moonbats shut off to save some minnows off the coast.

As Palin has said on more than one occasion, "Where I come from, we call that 'bait'."

She will turn this stinking, sinking craphole into a rising juggernaut in 6 months. Just wait, watch, and be amazed.
