Bill O'Reilly gets hostile to the Gospel

It was interesting to watch Bill O’Reilly begin to turn hostile toward Franklin Graham regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ. He pressed Graham to answer questions regarding the fate of people who live “good” lives but die without accepting Christ as their savior.

Franklin seemed to handle the question with much more back-bone than his father Billy Graham. (See Larry King interview when King pressed on the same question. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozjLaoPrcQ0&NR=1

The Rev, Franklin answered the question by saying that Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me”.

O’Reilly pressed further and became more agitated as he used hypothetical situations that many typically use - such as holocaust victims. (No, he didn’t actually ask about the pigmies.) I will leave it to you as to whether you want to see the interview and care to see how Graham did in holding firm. It will be relayed tonight at 11pm and on youtube I’m sure by tomorrow.

What I was pleased to hear is that it is irrelevant how –WE- feel about it. If we hold ourselves out to be followers of Christ, we do not get to pick and choose which parts of His word we accept based upon our own tastes. What kind of faith can one have if they believe not in the authenticity of the scriptures in their own Bible? Yes Bill O’Reilly, the Catholic Bible still has Jesus claiming to be the ONLY way. Catholic though I am not, I do still believe they hold themselves out to be THE Christian Church.

I’m sure some here saw the interview. I found it interesting how Bill was clearly holding back anger and I feel that if Graham had tried to elaborate further, Bill might have gone on one off his famous tirades. Based upon Bill’s apparent background, I’m surprised he isn’t RELIEVED that it is not by merit that we are saved but by grace. I know for one that I have reason to be glad.

I also want to say WELCOME! To those of you who joined the CB Patriot Project at cbPatriot.com. We have received some wonderful letters and referrals to groups such as Tea Parties across the country.

If you’re not familiar, the CB Patriot Project is a plan to keep us in communication with one another when the inevitable end result of government prodigality and perpetual counterfeiting by the Federal Reserve come to full manifestation. We have only heretofore seen the foreshock. The TREASON of it is in the fact that the destruction of wealth is deliberate.

I stopped watching Bill OReilly long ago. To watch him is to pay him. They have ways of knowing that you’re watching him and your watching him is like a vote for him. Every vote makes his ratings increase and with the increase of ratings comes more revenue from the advertisers to the Network.

As long as the network is happy, Bill OReilly has a job.

That is Catholic Doctrine. Not necessarily shared by other Christian denominations. I’m Catholic, and I agree with that Doctrine (admitting that my agreement means nothing in the scheme of things). My hunch is that there is still an element of choice - accept Him or don’t - after death but before things are permanent (eternal). But that’s just a hunch.

Oh, and before someone shows up to bash me as a Mary worshipper because I’m Catholic, I DON’T worship Mary. Honor her? Yes. Worship? NO. K? Thanks in advance for not telling me what I believe.

There are NO small sins. No sin can enter heaven, not one. Once you have committed the first tiny sin, you are damned to hell if you don’t accept Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

I don’t make the news, I just tell it.

I'm not an O'Reilly fan, but I saw the interview and thought he had a good point.

Put another way, one man murders, rapes and steals his whole life, but on his death bed thinks and feels "I admit my sins and accept Jesus as my savior". Another man helps the poor, loves and provides for his family and community, and does nothing but good his whole life. This man was born in Thailand, so he is a Buddhist. Or he was born in Egypt and is a Muslim.

How is it just for the first man to gain eternal bliss, and the second man eternal torture? Any father would give his erring child a second chance after a mistake, even if the child screams "I hate you daddy!". I can't see how almighty God could be less compassionate than an average man.

Ted Baxter's schtick has been old for years now. Years.

You want to see how smarmy, smug, full-of-themselves "news" anchors act when they don't get treated like prima donnas? Here is Ted Baxter losing it:

BOR has had ministers on before. He once asked Joel Osteen if he believed in the ‘Jesus is the only way’ message. He seems to think that is a narrow minded thing to believe.

Yep.

Romans 2:12-13 NIV

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

You're damned to where . . . ?

Better re-read that Bible, and this time with the proper translations of the original Hebrew and Greek texts. There are four words in the KJB that are translated "hell", and not all of them mean the same thing. There are also several other verses that demonstrate that the vast majority of mankind is to be saved. Only those that actually want to fight against God are going into the lake of fire.

The theif on the cross is a similar siutation to what you described. That thief had a few minutes of knowing Jesus before Christ told him “tonight, you will be with me in Paradise.”

We make the mistake of thinking in our pea brain minds that we can even begin to understand God. “We know in part”. What we do know in part is what He gave us in His word.

His word says that man cannot even LOOK at Him in this life and live. We cannot even handle glancing at him (read about Moses at Mt. Sinai). Look around you and consider this is the being that created everything you see and cannot see. His Word says that God CANNOT be in the precense of sin and that is the reason why he sent His perfect, sinless son to literally bear our sins once in for all. So who are we to question the fact that God’s own word says that he cannot be in the presence of sin.

I except one of HIS laws of nature. I see when I turn on the light, darkness flees. The darkness doesn’t over-take the light. It MUST flee. I’m not a scientist by any stretch so I don’t want to start discussing black hole theories. The principle works well for my pea brain. I don’t have to LIKE the fact that the darkness flees the room when I turn on the light, it just -is- every time. God tells me in his word that he is pure holliness, he created us with free will (otherwise we would be puppets) and we had the choice to obey - and we sinned. He loved us enough to make a way for us to be reunited, giving us Christ, his son. Praise God.

Let's see Bill "Malmedy Massacre" O'Reilly try grilling any Muzzie a-hole about tolerant jihadists' beheading or otherwise murdering everyone in sight. Thanks publius321.

IMHO, CS Lewis dealt with the question quite nicely in The Last Battle, the final installment of The Chronicles of Narnia in the describing the fate of the Calormene Prince Emeth.

The second man in your story doesn’t exist...there is no man that does only good his whole life. In fact there were mobsters in the heyday that that did more good helping communities, the elderly, building schools and love their children dearly more than average man, does the mobster good deeds outweight the average guy deeds?

I suppose BOR needs to refresh his memory of Scripture.

Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God

Ephhesians 2:9 “not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

The answer is that only God knows the heart. If someone is truly repentent, He will welcome that person into His Kingdom without condition. The thief on the cross hanging next to Jesus basically had a "deathbed conversion" and Jesus told him, "I tell you today you will be with Me in Paradise." According to the Bible, if one is trying to get in God's good Graces by being "good" or doing good works, He sees it as offering Him filthy rags (mentrual rags). If one breaks one commandment (and His standard is higher than ours, we can break them in our hearts) then all are broken. He doesn't have a point system.

God is perfect and Holy and cannot even look upon sin. But because He loves us so much and wants a relationship with us, He provided a way for that to be accomplished, and that was through the death and resurrection of the perfect, sinless Lamb, who is Christ Jesus. When you die and stand before God, He will not see your sins, He will see the perfection which is Christ in you. He bought you with a price, and that price was His death on the cross.

The Bible also says that God is revealed as the Creator in just about everything we see, yet so many worship the creation instead of He who created it. If someone is truly seeking God--and not some idol--but the Creator of everything, He will reveal Himself to them. He is a loving and merciful God, but he is also a Just God. And He is a jealous God. He declares that there is NO OTHER God but Him, and the way to Him is through the Son--by accepting Him as Lord and Savior of their life, and by faith, believing and trusting in Him and Him alone.

The most amazing thing about this is it has nothing to do with anything that we've done or will do. It is all about what Christ did! Jesus said that once you are in His hand, NO ONE or NOTHING can snatch you away from Him. I rest in that promise.

God's ways are not our ways, and they will work out for His perfect Will and justice. He knows who is His--who will come to Him, and everyone who He has known and was written in the Book of Life before the world began will come to Him. No one will slip out of His grasp. He will make certain of it--even if it is at their very last breath.
