Republicans Already Opposed to Some Candidates
Elephant Watcher ^ | May 6, 2011

"The 2012 Republican primary has not yet begun in earnest, and voters are unlikely to see attack ads against Republican candidates for quite some time. Yet recent polling by Rasmussen shows that many Republicans are already opposed to certain candidates...."

It just absolutely kills me that the best potential candidate in the field by far that the republicans have isn't going to run.

I can understand his reasoning, but it's still frustrating.

I’m already opposed to Romney and all other RINOs. Not a purist, but the candidates do have to meet a certain threshold and trying to be buddies with 0bama isn’t cutting it.

We need a conservative. A true one.

Would Probably or Definitely Vote Against:
Trump 48%
Palin 39%
Gingrich 39%
Christie 22%

This writer is just another RINO pimping for Christie. First, this RINO isn’t running. Why debate the issue. If he did run his Conservative record is garbage. Second, we just had our first debate last night and the public wasn’t even aware of the high level of candidates we already have running like Cain, as evidenced by the Frank Luntz focus group. They loved him. Even Pawlenty and Santorum looked decent. It is not like we have a field of Johnsons running. Once people begin to hear from these candidates, they will be able to actually give informed info to the pollsters.

This longing for Christie makes no sense from a Conservative standpoint.

I seriously think the Palin negative numbers will go down significantly if she decides to run and gets out there to let her voice be heard. Right now, too many people are basing their opinion of her on what the media has said and done to harm her reputation.

Let us all remember that it’s actually Sarah Palin that’s being discussed, not Tina Fey’s caricature. TwoKids’Mom can’t seem to tell the difference at times. That may be true with a lot of people.

Are you kidding? Santorum couldn't answer a direct question last night to save his life. All of his answers were dodge and weaves around the questions.

For once I want a candidate to let his "yes be yes and no be no." No more answering questions with a 5 minute exhortation that says absolutely nothing at all!

What debate were you watching? The moderators were trying to play "gotcha" and Santorum was particularly deft in handling those questions. Nearly masterful. His presence and command of the issues turned a lot of heads last night. Mine included. I have gone back and forth on Rick over the years, but I think I'm back on the bandwagon after last night.

It’d be nice if the Republican Party were more opposed to Obama than conservatives but I guess that’s too much to ask.

"We need a conservative. A true one."

Yes, yes, yes, 100x yes! Nothing but a true conservative; not a RINO, not a Losertarian masquerading as a conservative, not a fiscal conservative but social liberal...nothing but a conservative will do!

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Could you cite specifically were this dodge and weave took place? Santorum was hitting hard and really made an excellent point on all of Obummers foreign policy positions are just a continuation of Bush's. He even was able to smack down Juan Williams BS gotcha about the feminist pushing women to work instead of having the option to raise families.

Pot Head Johnson was answering in short answers last night. Did he impress you?

I will not be voting for him for any reason... go listen to the things that he said when he and michael steele were subbing for Bill Bennett's Morning in America radio show... anyone supporting santorum is supporting a uber liberal, big tent, big government, one world order rino. He stated just like gingrich... that "The Era of Reagan is over... this election has shown us that the electorate is far more progressive than it once was... we must move the party in their direction". I would never vote for anyone that could ever say those things... and steele agreed with him. I am not going to quote more... I have done this dozens of times... just do the research... find Bennett's archives and the evidence is there in his own words.

"I seriously think the Palin negative numbers will go down significantly if she decides to run and gets out there to let her voice be heard."

Like my wife says, and I agree with, it's her voice that makes me want to turn the channel when she's speaking at some rally. She's a screech owl with that girly, high pitched voice. Her voice makes her as Presidential as Lindsy Lohan. And somebody needs to tell her that the microphone does the job of amplifying her voice, she doesn't need to yell all the time as though she's trying to rally people. They are ALREADY rallied. Just speak calmly and seriously Sarah, say what you have to say, and let the speaker system do the amplification. Otherwise, your voice is like fingernails down a chalkboard.

But, that's always been the case for ANY candidate running w/o a D after their name.

Anybody but Trump or Romney. I'd rather not see Gingrich, Palin, or Huntsman get the nod either.

No point in running someone who can’t win.

No point in supporting someone who can’t win.

If you are leader with leadership qualities who can inspire people to follow you, then run.

If you need to form exploratory committess to see if you have a chance of winning, then don’t bother.

If you are proven loser, don’t bother, don’t waste our time, we are out of it.

I’ll say straight out...Gringrich, Pawlenty, Huckleberry, Paul, Romney get the hell out of the way, you ain’t it, go home, don’t waste our precious time. None of you have even one iota of leadership quality, which incidentally, is a very important quality in a leader herp derp.

Santorum started off small government conservative and then over time, he melded into Rinodom and became a “compassionate conservative” interested in “social justice.” Social justice is just a tricky way of saying socialism.

He stayed socially conservative but when you turn over all aspects of human life to control by the Feds, your faith and morals are banned from all your life in public.

I agree. Santorum has the experience to handle the heat, he’s right on the issues, and he’s photogenic. He’s got my support (for now.)

You must be listening to some other Santorum. I heard him answer a question on teaching Creationism by saying the decision should be left locally to schools and parents and kept away rom the Fedgov.
