I just Got Back From The Grocery Store($4 For A Gallon of Milk)

Posted on 05/15/2011 5:13:18 PM PDT by Dubya-M-DeesWent2SyriaStupid!

The meats were like a bad joke gone bad. $7-10 for a small package of chicken breasts. I got enough food for a week and it was $107. The cashier lady told me some woman (when she noticed) milk at $4 a gallon asked if there was s milk shortage. Are people this stupid?

I am truly afraid for this country in so many ways and as the cashier lady said she told the ditz lady it will get far worse before it gets better. And the cashier was in her 20's and she figured this out- so there is some hope this age group knows to vote out Impeach Obama NOW!

California milk control board started to keep the price artificially High, they just are behind the times. As you cruise thru Cali you will see signs stating that “ we sell milk at state minimum price “ seems they just had a price increase per the state website but is still artificially low.

Actually the price controls are for minimum price per gallon, NOT maximum. Do you understand the concept?

The MINIMUM price for gallon is NOT a consumer subsidy but a "protection" for the small family milk producer against a corporate large scale production.

So it will be a real bad depression Christmas compared to the last two?

America is so spoiled. What would happen if sugar was like gold in households like the depression?

Most american Idol and dancing with the stars watchers think milk and eggs are magical and the lucky charms dude makes them appear in the store while Misses Butterworth talks to them.

I’ve never tried freezing onions, so I don’t know about them.

Milk is $1.96 a gallon here. Generic 2%.

I made a serious error when I posted this. I just looked at yesterday's receipt.

I paid $1.98 a gallon.

My sincere apologies.

Milk is cheaper on west coast, we pay 2.39 a gallon and that is up from $1.99.

Oh for the love of Pete!!!

You are going with a BOGO PRICE????

Hell, I just got Doritoes for $1.99 a bag this week. Doesn’t mean that every other dang week it’s not $3.79 a bag.

Jeez, I don’t think the poster of this thread was asking about buy one get one sale prices. Just... wow...

You have been calling me a liar all through this thread, I have no idea what this talk is of milk being subsidised in California for the consumer, and you don’t either, so you are lying about why you have been attacking me and are still going at it full bore.

If you know something about the California milk industry and law and how it affects the prices that we pay for milk in this state and your state, and all of the other states, then fill me in, but drop that chip off your shoulder.

Minimum price set by gov. will always mandate the maximum as retailers will tend to clump all around the set price. so by setting one ya set the other. Price control for any reason on anything is crazy, free markets equal out, government intervention screws up everything.

“Smart Balance” is $7.18 a tub!!! That’s outrageous and amazing for Georgia is usually on the cheap end. That’s why I am amazed at the price of milk in California! We are usually on the bottom end of prices and it’s unbelievable here.

Buy her a Gambler ‘make your own’ starter kit at a smoke shop.

Don’t buy her the cheapest tobacco and filtered tubes. Most ‘Pipe’ tobacco is cut the same as cigarette tobacco but sells for a about an eighth as much- taxes. I once bought ‘Farmer’s Gold’ menthol by accident and it was very similar to Kool. It may take 2 or 3 tries to find a brand she loves.

The savings is 80 to 90% and they DO taste better.
Been stuffing my own for a year now and am very pleased.
Takes less than a half-hour to make a pack.
Oh, and beginners usually over-sruff their cigarettes at first- making them hard to draw, but after a few days you get the knack.

Freeze dried lasts a long time (years), and I try to keep a jar for back up, I also like to keep a small, well sealed bag of beans in the freezer, as my final go to bag if I run out.

When you want a a peppers, onion and sausage sandwich you will do about anything.

Actually as I have already mentioned I do freeze peppers, but I guess we ate too many pepper and onions this winter.

I really have to put in a few more peppers this season.

BTW, I do the same with blueberries. I still have enough for at least two more blueberry pies. Blueberries will be coming in season here in South Jersey within a month (June 15th)

We have been laying up extra food for the last few months. We ordered about 22 chickens so we can have fresh eggs and sell or trade extras. These are times of heavy discernment.
