I just Got Back From The Grocery Store($4 For A Gallon of Milk)

Posted on 05/15/2011 5:13:18 PM PDT by Dubya-M-DeesWent2SyriaStupid!

The meats were like a bad joke gone bad. $7-10 for a small package of chicken breasts. I got enough food for a week and it was $107. The cashier lady told me some woman (when she noticed) milk at $4 a gallon asked if there was s milk shortage. Are people this stupid?

I am truly afraid for this country in so many ways and as the cashier lady said she told the ditz lady it will get far worse before it gets better. And the cashier was in her 20's and she figured this out- so there is some hope this age group knows to vote out Impeach Obama NOW!

Yes, Smart and Final.

I know which products to buy where, and I hit those stores as my travels take me by them.

I thought it was a heck of a lot for one bell pepper although it was a nice size one.

Nomally I would have driven the extra miles to the veggie/fruit outlet but with gas at 3.72 (the cheapest I can find) I avoid unnecessary trips when possible.

I don’t have one near me. But my sis does. She loves it, had her MIL go too, DIL too.

She called me up while she was in the store alone, so she could quote me prices, descriptions, sizes etc without being interrupted.

I spent over $80. It was sooo much cheaper than I could buy the same items, here. Most of it was dry goods, not dented cans. Hamburger helper, noodles, that kind of stuff.
Shampoo and things like that too.

She had to have help getting all the stuff in her vehicle!
Huge boxes crammed full.
She lives in another state, I will be visiting in June. Can’t wait to actually see all of it. And visit the store myself when I go there next month. She says it’s run by Amish or someone...very, very mannerly and helpful. Very low overhead, lighting etc...

It is not you personally. It is that, if it is true that Ca. is getting cheap milk to keep your communist state happy and the rest of the country is paying for up the butt for it; as the poster noted she was told MAY be happening; that pisses me off as well. That would tick anybody outside of Ca. off.

Because it seems disingenuous of you to spout a milk price that you know good and well is misleading. I am sorry, either you are a liar or you are knowingly making statements that are misleading.

The cost of food in the supermarkets is contingent on the cost to transport them..

You can look at the food and gasoline prices but don't forget that plastics and cosmetics are oil based and thus are contributing to the rising consumer costs............

That’s a good price. I started stockpiling ground coffee to mix with my beans a few months ago. Panic set in when I envisioned being housebound without coffee because I can’t afford gas. I have hit my personal wall with hope and change.

Yep.

I actually cut mine up, freeze on a large round tray I have, then vacuum seal them in gallon bags. That way, they don’t freeze as one big lump, like they can if you just toss in a bag and freeze.

Pull out as many as I need, simply reseal(re vacuum) put back in freezer.

I also dehydrate for long term storage. Didn’t catch me paying $3.79 for one pepper, although this winter they did cost that much here too.

Well, I suppose if I were hunt around where I live(NJ, “The Garden State’’) I might meat cheaper. Doubt it though. Jersey isn’t exactly ‘’cattle country’’.
