My countdown continues.
Some people just love one-sided stories. Unfortunately, for the chattering classes, I’m not one of them. From the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s “7:3o report” (6/7/1999):
Global warming will destroy Great Barrier Reef: report
MAXINE McKEW: Well, it’s said that coral reefs are like the canary in the coalmine, warning of impending doom and dying in the process.
So when the world’s reefs last year suffered severe coral bleaching on an unprecedented scale, scientists and environmentalists were alarmed.
As a result, Greenpeace commissioned one of the world's leading reef biologists to find out what caused the dramatic coral decay.
The report doesn't paint a pretty picture.
It predicts many of the world’s reefs won’t survive the next century if current trends in global warming continue.
And a warning that the Great Barrier Reef may only have another 20 or 30 years of life left. In the ABC’s groupthink tradition, members of Greenpeace and global-warming scientists (living in grass huts and working for free, my guess) are rarely challenged, because apocalyptic news is welcome news.
Personally, I’d like a follow-up on this very alarmist “report.” Please.

We as humans must do everything in our power at ANY cost to stop this senseless destruction of the earth before we destroy the solar system too.

The universe isn't too big for us evil and destructive humans to bring down.
Some theorists say there are multiple universes. So much for insensitive human TEA party members to destroy...so little time.
Just another day and another phony crisis to spend our way out of.
TEA party members have money so let us call us "compassionate" destroyers until we have no more money to confiscate.

It is too bad there are so few scientists with integrity I would like to know what is really causing coral bleaching. I know Cousteau noticed it when he went back to some reefs he visited years before. They were now barren. Is it dying in some places and thriving in others?

Some recent reef destruction in the Caribbean was traced to sand and dirt wafting in from the Sahara.
Wikipedia admits that most recent coral death is caused by El Nino events. The sea temperature rises so much above normal that the coral bleaches and dies. Some areas had 80% die off.
My guess would be something completely natural such as disease.
Recently it was in the news here in Ohio that a fungus was decimating the bat population.
So I would guess that a perfectly natural disease like a virus is working its way through these coral beds.
But for these scientific prostitutes the pay is better and there is less work involved if they claim that global warming is killing off the coral.
It’s time to give our planet over to the “green visitors.”
Mother Gaia says, “Bless you.” She tells me to tell you to give more taxes to her, through Obama.
