For a moment, imagine a future where you are not able to drive a car, get on a plane, get on a train, vote, enter a federal building, open a bank account or get a job without a national ID card. You don't think that could ever happen in America? Well, you might want to brush up on the Real ID Act because it is going to go into effect on May 11, 2011 unless something is done to stop it. When I first learned this, I was absolutely stunned. After all, wasn't the Real ID Act supposed to be "dead"? A few years ago state legislatures across the nation were in an uproar over this law. The Department of Homeland Security was forced to delay implementation of it several times. But now it is back. You see, this is what the federal government often does. They will try to push something very unpopular through, and if they meet resistance they will "play dead" until the uproar has died down and then they will come right back and implement it anyway. This is what is happening with the Real ID Act.
As of May 11, all driver's licenses across the United States will be required to conform to federal national security standards. In essence, our licenses are now going to be federalized.

So, upon further investigation, it would appear that not only is this not tinfoil stuff, it is Bible prophecy being fulfilled.
And I wouldn't be so gung ho about it. Since we know from the reality in the world today that the word of God is inerrant and true and is in the process of coming to pass, then we know that the following is true also:

Those who take this wonderful mark, which will keep track of not only illegals but everyone, as God says, will spend eternity in hell. Nobody should be excited or happy about the fact that the technology to fulfill Revelation 13 not only exists right now, but is in the process of being implemented.
Just like we were gradually weaned off of cash and now use mostly cards for purchases, the world is being conditioned to a new reality of receiving a "mark", right now in the form of a chip, to buy and sell, and have our medical records on our person, and to be located if we go missing, and to be identified if we are found dead - the list of reasons of why this is a good idea is endless.
The fact is, the technology is here, it is already in use, and, pretty soon, there will be a guy who comes on the scene to fix all the problems and part of the problem-solving will be implementing a new world economic system, and part of that new system will be a "mark" on a person's right hand or forehead.
God said it will happen and it is in the process of happening. This should be a wake-up call to everyone of how close we are to the Tribulation, and to Christ's return for His bride, and to the end of this current age.

No one knows when the LORD has decided that thier time has come;
Therefore, simply logic will say that a wise man, knowing both of the above, would live in contant prepardness. All of the so called “signs” have occurred, or were believed to have occured, several times over the last 2000 years. Why believe them “more” now?
We KNOW it is coming - so we should always be prepared!
The LORD did not command us to try and stand in the way - or try to “scare” others with End Times prophecies. He commanded us to spread the Good News to everyone. That is how we prepare others. Repent or Die generally doesn’t work - accept Christ and you will be forgiven is a much stronger argument.
As I stated previously - believers will KNOW that they should refuse the mark - and they will KNOW that there are dire earthly consequences to that choice.
And why should I NOT rejoice in the knowledge that, when the MotB is introduced, the LORD is returning?
The MotB is not something that just happens, you must actively accept it.
For that reason, it is really a waste of time and energy to constantly proclaim that every single advance in technology and/or attempt to institute an identification system is somehow a precuser to the MotB!
You would think that after all these years, people would realize how utterly ineffective it is to make such claims ...
Nobody said a card was the mark of the beast. And it's not *suddenly*. But it is preparation for implementing it. Get people used to the idea, and then convince them of the convenience of having themselves chipped so they don't lose the card. Voila'.

Jesus specifically said that no man knows the day or hour, but He said that within the context of watching the signs of the times to know the general time of His coming and that we are to watch and be ready for in a day and hour that we aren't expecting, He will come.

The ID card, in an of itself, is not a big deal, aside from putting people who were previously free in a situation where they have to "produce papers". However, the ID card combined with the fact that we have the technology, already in use and being used like the prophecy in Revelation 13 states it will be, is the issue.

Well, someone is producing these things and introducing them into the world and requiring their use in some circumstances and I bet we can safely say that it's not somebody with a card making machine in his mother's basement.
No one knows when the Time will come, - AND No one knows when the LORD has decided that thier time has come;
No one knows the day or the hour, but Jesus said we will know when we are in the season of His return. After giving His disciples the signs of when He will return He said:
so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. 34“Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Matthew 24:33,34)
And, Jesus tells those who know Him as Savior that they will know the season of His return:
But you brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief; for you are sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do." (1 Thessalonians 5:4)
So, while no one knows the day or the hour, we will know when we are in the season of His return, based on the signs given for that return in the Book that God has written and given to us, and we are also commanded to watch for His return:
Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back - whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' (Mark 13:35-37)
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." (Matthew 24:42)
So, according to Jesus Christ, we will know the season He will return, and we are commanded to watch for His return.
The LORD did not command us to try and stand in the way - or try to “scare” others with End Times prophecies. He commanded us to spread the Good News to everyone.
God is the One Who put the prophetic Scripture in the Bible. Do you think He did it to scare people, or to warn the world of what is coming so that people would come to Him and be saved and be taken from the wrath that is to come as He promised? Do you think that those who take Christ's command to warn the world of His return seriously and spread that warning are "scaring" people? If you are driving on a highway, and I know that a bridge that goes across two mountain ranges is out, and I warn you about the danger you face, am I "scaring" you? Wouldn't you like to know about the impending danger so that you could take the necessary steps to avoid it?
The Importance of Biblical Prophecy
God put these warnings in His Scriptures for a reason. It is dangerous and foolish to dismiss them.

The MotB will not sneak up on you and you unknowingly accept it - you will know exactly what it is and what it means.
And again I assert that over the last 2000 years there have been literally thousands of preparations for the coming of the mark - should we go nuts every time another one comes along? I think not. We have been instructed to remain vigilant (meaning always being with HIM) and to spread the Good News, not get all bent out of shape about the fact that the LORDS plan is progressing.
IOW - relax! If you have accepted the LORD as your saviour (and I am NOT questioning that!) and you remain with HIM - HE will not allow you to be deceived! It will get rather unpleasant and we will likely suffer a great deal prior to HIS coming - but that is a part of the choice ...

Well, yes, I would say so. When in the history of the world did the technology exist to number every single person on the face of the earth and for one man to be able to know when and/or if a particular person was conducting commerce and whether or not a particular person had a mark that was required to buy or sell? When, exactly, did that technology exist before now?

The Bible states that the Mark of the Beast will be forced on those who are on earth during the seven-year period of judgment called the "Tribulation". Believers in Christ will not be here for that time, so I won't have to worry about being forced to take the mark and not being able to buy or sell without it.

Your problem is with God, not me. He is the One Who wrote the prophetic Scriptures and He is the One Who made sure those prophecies were made available to man to read and act on. I'm not threatening anybody. It is the job of all who have accepted Christ's free gift of salvation to tell others and to warn others of the consequences of rejecting Christ and the reality of the judgment that Christ Himself tells us He will bring on an unbelieving, Christ-rejecting world.
So, I am not the threat to you - God and His Bible are. And if you feel threatened, it is because you choose to. Those who know Him as Savior are not threatened by any part of His word.
Jesus told those of us who know Him and love Him:
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. The world is in that exact season right now, as is proven by the anger over God's prophetic Scriptures. However I will continue to obey my Savior, and tell others of all Scripture, because there are some who will hear those Scriptures and be saved. Not everyone will choose to reject Jesus Christ and will take His warnings seriously and will act on those warnings.

CARPING against THE TRUTH in such matters. Who’s side are folks on?
Certainly the Gospel is paramount.
Over the last 40+ years, I’ve helped introduce a number of folks in the USA AND ASIA to a Salvation Relationship with Jesus The Christ by discussing such issues as Biblical prophecy and the end times.
I fail to see how an ignorant or blase head in the sand attitude is REDEMTIVE or WISE.
. . . or even sane.
Certainly satan’s plans in such matters have gone on for millenia.
BTW, It was interesting recently to run across some very straightforward and extensive documentation that Queen Elizabeth II descends from LuliA Caesar, sister of Julius. I didn’t verify it through diverse sources. However, it’s an interesting puzzle piece amongst all the rest.
Of course we are to be prepared at all times. How many, what percentage of authentic Christians do you think are?
What percentage of nomminal Christians in name only are?
Personally, I praise God for His faithfulness to motivate me toward Him and toward preparedness however He sees fit. Some get on the ball more with carrots and some with sticks.
And some just mock and throw rocks at those crying the alert.
I see no need for a federal ID, which cannot better implemented at the local level. I also don’t see a need for GPS systems which track everything locally on an international scale.
