Great Political Ad That Helped Newcomer Defeat 12 Term Incumbant in Primary (must see video)

This has got to be one of the best, if not the best, political ads of the season. Regardless of where you stand as far as incumbents vs their challengers go, you must admit that this was one great political ad. It very well could be the reason enough voters were influenced to pull the lever for Tea party challenger, Ted Yoho of Gainesville FL, over the 12 term incumbent, Cliff Stearns, in the primary for Florida's 3 district.

While I am always happy to see a Tea Party candidate defeat a Rino, I must admit to being a bit confused because Stearn is not a Rino. After all, Cliff is not only credited with leading the investigation of Planned Parenthood and Solyndra, but the National Taxpayers Union gives him an A, and the ACU gives him a 95% score over his 23 year career.

Recently, on June 14, 2012, ACU Chairman Al Cardenas issued the following statement about Stearns:

“Cliff Stearns is the clear conservative choice in Florida’s Third District. His ACU lifetime congressional rating of 95 over 23 years of service reflects an outstanding and consistent commitment to conservative principles over a wide range of issues and is one of the highest in the Congress over that period of time.”

"Whether the issue was reigning runaway federal spending, reducing crippling government regulation, protecting the rights of the unborn or protecting Second Amendment rights, year after year Cliff Stearns has been there for conservatives. I urge all conservatives to support Cliff Stearns for reelection in the Republican Primary August 14 and again in November.”

From what I understand there was a trumped up charge of bribery against Stearns, which just brings to question of whether or not he was brought down by Obama's Alynsky friends because for going after Planned Parenthood and Solyndra. Regardless of the reason for his downfall, it was quite a shock to conservatives that he lost.

As for Yoho, if he turns out to be as good as his supporters claim, then Obama and the Democrats may rue the day they helped bring down this 12 term Conservative incumbent. Time will tell, but in the mean time, let's all pray that Yoho doesn't turn out to be another wolf in sheep's clothing like Chief Justice Roberts.

This could be a seat, that the local Tea Party in Gainesville Florida, has screwed us up on. We will not know until next year. That is if Ted goes on to defeat the Democrat in November. If he loses come November, many will be questioning why those of the Tea Party wanted Stearns out.

You are oh so wrong. I’m in this district. Stearns was okay, working hard but he has been there too long. Yoho will NOT roll over for the corrupt GOP on stupid votes. This is a safe republican district. Stearns actually moved to run in this district from Ocala to Clay County recently with the new redistricting.
I don’t care if it’s Sarah Palin, enough is enough, 24 years is about 12-14 years too long.

I smell infiltration. Stearns was rock solid. Even if it wasnt an op chaos situation, it was a stupid move and waste of resources.

Once again, we’re the stupid party. Sigh.

I hope you’re right, because I smell set-up. But you live there, so I’ll defer.

This is a must see political ad. The video stars a couple of pro wrestlers, one of which is the son of Dusty Rhodes. It really drives home the idea of pigs at the trough when speaking of long time intrenched politicians. However, it also leaves you wondering why he was challenged by a conservative when he was just as much such a staunch conservative as his challenger was.

From what I read Stearns got beat pretty bad by someone with no money.

One ad does not turn an election.

Stearns must have done something to alienate his district. Did he pull a Lugar? A J.D. Hayworth? Become to DC for the voters?

I don’t know but one good ad doesn’t garner that many votes.

Actually, the challenger won by less then 900 votes from what I understand.

You said I am wrong, but what am I wrong about?

I gave credit to Stearns for being a staunch conservative, and even admit that Yoho is a conservative.

I just stated that we need to pray he is not like Roberts.

I also give you a tip of my hat on this for living in the district and knowing the situation, but I am not wrong in anything I wrote.

I might have read about another race where the incumbant GOP guy got only 34% of the vote.

Okay, googled it and it was under 800, still can’t find final numbers.

If there's an "incumbents out" this close to November, a mood that wouldn't have been present earlier in the year when most primaries happened, November could be ugly particularly if this mood is on the right to the point it'll eat its own.

Sounds like a good solid conservative, if there an awfully long time, was tossed on his ear and now unknown Ted Yoho will have to start from scratch on seniority which means a RINO could move into places Cliff Stearns occupied.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in. (Other than judges, who IMHO start to think they are little gods and ALWAYS should be thrown out.)

When you feel like the job is an entitlement, it trickles down and people figure it out. In my district a long time incumbent was elected by over 80% on Tues and there was a reason for that. He works his tail off.

My wife’s best friend is legislative assistant to Rep. Stearns. He’s a good man, good for his constituents and for the country. Too bad.
