New poll: Catholics to vote 3 to 1 against Obama; explains why Cardinal Dolan not welcome at DNC

In the Leftist controlled media stories are shouted if they are helpful to Democrats, whispered if they are bad news for Democrats...

".. why a new poll a new poll commissioned by the American Life League (ALL) is so important. The poll conducted between August 15 and 19 spoke to 900 self-identified Catholic registered voters.

There are few English language superlatives that can accurately portray the findings of this survey.

“Earth shaking” “Sea Change” “Devastating” read them and take your pick.

The story was whispered on a recent NPR segment and here’s why.

A stunning 27% of Catholics told the interviewers they support Barack Obama. This is a 27 point fall from 2008.

Seventy four percent (74%) of Catholic men over 50 refuse to support Obama.

Moreover an almost identical 25% of Catholic men under 50 support Obama and 31% of Catholic women under 50 support him.

Catholic women over fifty support Obama at just a 23% rate.

Clearly Barack Obama’s plan to start a fight with Catholics is working but how can any Democrat be happy about the results?

The ALL survey found that 73% of its Catholic registered voter respondents see the mandate Obama has placed on Catholic institutions (including Catholic hospitals and indeed the office of Cardinal Dolan) to commit abortions and distribute contraceptive devices as a violation of their religious freedoms.

This explains why Cardinal Dolan the leader of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops was told he is not welcome to attend the Democrats’ convention in Charlotte North Carolina next month.

This survey …..claims a margin of error of +/- 3 points. Nevertheless, with numbers like this a 10 point MoE wouldn’t help Barack Obama and his Party.

“…Catholics who were 27%...

No Democrat has won the presidency since 1948 without winning the Catholic vote. Obama is not even close.

It better be even less than that voting for him. I can’t see why on God’s green earth that any Catholic could vote for a president who has spit directly in the face of the Church more than any other in history.

Because like those from other sectors of society, government handouts appeal to them as well.

Excellent news. I am glad to see the majority of Catholics rejecting this evil man.

And their are many of them in PA, OH, MI, WI, & MN ergo why they are in "play"... It is the same demographic that gave Schumer and Emanuel the House and Senate in 06' IMHO and I wish I still had the map I found on-line to prove it, it has been gone for eons..... Turn about is fair play Schadenfreude Baby..

I slightly disagree. If the democrats cared about Catholics, they would have Dolan at the DNC as sort of a peace offering. They don’t give a damn about Catholics & have declared all out war against Church teaching & Catholic values. THAT is why Dolan isn’t invited - the DNC is anti-Christ.

Sorry to be the wet blanket here, but I have one big question. Was there any difference in the definition of Catholic between the 2008 poll and the current one? Unlike most denominations, people tend to stay “Catholic” even if they haven’t gone to church for years. I could easily see 50% of the total number supporting Obama but only 25% of the ones who go to mass weekly doing so. Unless the same criteria were used this poll might not be showing any real shift.

Agreed. If the Catholic vote mattered to them, and this was accurate, the polls wouldn’t be this close (or worse, Romney behind - see Rasmussen). The Dems clearly don’t care about the anti-HHS mandate/anti-abortion vote and it doesn’t seem to have hurt them in general polling. God help this Country.

so how come the north east, PA, DE, NJ, IL etc will go fro the socialists.

Catholics and Jews vote left because they do nto nkow te turht, because their parents did, because the union says to do so and because they;re ignorant and not really Catholic or Jewish until it suits them.

“And their are many of them in PA, OH, MI, WI, & MN ergo why they are in “play”...

Obama lost the 2008 Catholic vote in Pa, Ohio, and Mn. The Catholic vote varied between 70% for Obama in NM to 70% against Obama in La. Of course this is all exit polling so who the heck knows anyhow.

I’m not sure Obama won the Catholic vote in any red state, I would love to know that (not saying he didn’t win either, I just don’t know). The whole 54% thing is a national number to my understanding, which isn’t as useful because we vote by state and the electoral college. In huge states like NY and Cali Obama won the Catholic vote handily, both by 59%. I don’t know what it was in Texas, which is another big one and a red state. But in a few fairly blue states like NJ (55%) McLame won. It seems like region has something to do with it as well as maybe the bishop.

I can’t see that Obama has helped his cause much with Catholics over the 2008 numbers, but who knows.

"Democrats are for the poor people. Republicans are for the rich people."

Catholics think they're "poor people."

As a Catholic who has been involved with the church, and who worked for a Catholic hospital for many years it has been my experience that the clergy has been considerably more liberal than the parishioners. The monks who ran the Hospital I worked for lived in a communal house and took a vow of poverty. It isn't hard to sell socialism to a group like that. But by forcing them to confront the abortion issue head on Obama made a mistake. The Alexian Brothers are men of principle. They will close the doors before they violate those principles.

While there are a lot of Catholics in the rust belt, and Obama thumbing his nose at them doesn’t help him, the main reason the Rust Belt is in play is simple, Obama has basically spit in the faces of the Blue Dog democrats for 4 years, and they are without question the largest group of democrats in the rust belt.

They are not leftist ideologues, they aren’t socialists, they aren’t supporters of having others pay for abortions etc. They are rather conservative folks who vote democrat because of generations ties of democrats to Unions. Obamas completely removal of the mask of what the democrats stand for economically and socially is why the Rust Belt is in play.

There is a new book by Phyllis Schafly and George Neumayr called No Higher Power: Obama's War on Religious Freedom which was published very recently (includes events from early 2012).

Powerful book--covers the well-known and less well-known ways Obama has tried to destroy religious freedom and advance a militant form of secularism, not only at the expense of the Catholic Church but at the expense of all believers (other than Muslims).

Deserves a wide readership.

The priest in my church said the following. That the ten commandments are more important than the constitution. He said that even elected officials would agree with that. He also said the President would agree with that, being general and not talking about barry at all.

Well well well I never saw this reaction in all my years. People starting yelling not Obama, dont go there, he is not a Christian. This from quiet reserved older people who attend mass during the week. very telling!!
