Are Americans obligated to take up arms against would-be tyrants?

In 1833, thirty four year member of the Supreme Court, Joseph Story, wrote: “The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic.” (1)

That “palladium of liberties” has never been exercised more frequently than during the four years Barack Hussein Obama has been in the White House. According to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), “…the top 10 record gun sales days have occurred since Barack Obama’s election in 2008, and gun ownership has skyrocketed over the last four years.” (2)

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) reports that in 1944 there were approximately 192 million firearms owned by 44 million Americans. By the end of 1996, the ATF reports that...

“Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible.,” said Humphrey to Guns Magazine (“Know Your Lawmakers,” Guns Magazine, Feb. 1960).

That’s right, folks, the liberal Democrat Hubert Humphrey said that. Except Old Hubert would not be welcome in today’s Donk party. Hint: He ran the Commmies out of the DFL when the Minnesota Dems merged with the Farmer-Labor Party.

I’ve seen that image posted a couple of times, and I don’t think it’s fully accurate.

I actually am slightly worried about the last part, because the 2nd Amendment only has power if a sufficient number of people are willing to exercise it. Yea, tons of people have recently purchased firearms. But when push comes to shove, how many of them will actually be willing to use them?

The time has come for us to take back our rights. I would gladly fight for restoration of our rights. When that time comes, I won’t fight for “everyones” rights, I’ll be fighting for MINE, and MY family.

I'll be standing right beside you.

The Military is not the one’s doing these recent Big Brass purges.

Even the Russians expect it to happen. So you know the imposters in the whiteyHut are trying to nip it in the bud. But this idea could make those that long to be tyrant think twice before going too far.

We have never been in this dire situation with our government since the civil war.

We don't know what is ahead except an economic collapse is surely going to happen. This election was a farce in the swing states and Hussein's executive orders are designed to put us under his thumb through Homeland Security and the EPA rules he orders. Husseincare is destroying business after business and thousands have lost their jobs due to this and it will be millions before businesses are through shutting down or laying off workers. Our citizens, especially the elderly and disabled will die as services are cut off from them.

Did you know when you enter the hospital and are discharged, you can't come back for thirty days because if you do, you pay, Medicare won't pay. Your mothers and fathers will die from no care. Hussein is Hitler and Stalin as he shoves people into the final solution. More will be sent to Hospice to die faster. That's how he saves money.

Who stops Hussein from totally killing the country? No one that I can see can do that. He does what he wants and no one stops him - executive orders and more regulations are his method.

Everyone should store some water and food.

"Are Americans obligated to take up arms against would-be tyrants?"

Yes.

Impeach the kenyan or secession.

Some of our overlords might want to take into consideration that there are some 5 million deer rifles out there, complete with scopes and owned by men who are proficient in their use.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

We're still in the "prudence" stage, but fast approaching the point of "throw off."

Jefferson would probably disagree.

" During the contest of opinion through which we have passed [i.e., election of 1800], the animation of discussions and of exertions has sometimes worn an aspect which might impose on strangers unused to think freely and to speak and to write what they think; but this being now decided by the voice of the nation, announced according to the rules of the Constitution, all will, of course, arrange themselves under the will of the law, and unite in common efforts for the common good. All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression. Let us, then, fellow-citizens, unite with one heart and one mind. Let us restore to social intercourse that harmony and affection without which liberty and even life itself are but dreary things. And let us reflect that, having banished from our land that religious intolerance under which mankind so long bled and suffered, we have yet gained little if we countenance a political intolerance as despotic, as wicked, and capable of as bitter and bloody persecutions."
