A Pledge To Gun Grabbers
Transsylvania Phoenix ^ | 12/23/2012 | Transsylvania Phoenix

Posted on 12/23/2012 12:44:58 PM PST by .454Puma

I was 26 years old and barely married for two months when what you see in the pictures above happened. I was in Romania, carrying an AKM-47 as a Navy reservist. I didn't really cared if I was to live or to die - living my entire as a slave under communism really made me indifferent to the perspective of dying. In fact, I was ready to put a bullet in my head if the revolution wouldn't have succeed.

My father once told me: son, the single biggest mistake me and your grandad did was to surrender our guns in 1949 when the communists made gun ownership illegal. You paid for our mistake and I am sorry for that.

Now I have a 22 year old son and I am making anyone who wants to come to my home take my guns away A PLEDGE:

YOU WILL NOT TAKE MY GUNS. I WILL NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE MY FATHER AND GRANDFATHER DID. I WILL NOT LET MY SON RISK HIS LIFE FIGHTING A ANOTHER REVOLUTION TO OVERTHROW ANOTHER DICTATOR BECAUSE I WAS A COWARD AND GAVE UP INTO YOUR DEMANDS.

I owe that to my son and to all the people who died for liberty in December 1989.

So help me God.

From the TEXAS Declaration of Independence from Mexico..

http://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/texdec.asp

“It has demanded us to deliver up our arms, which are essential to our defence, the rightful property of freemen, and formidable only to tyrannical governments.”

THE RIGHTFUL PROPERTY OF FREEMEN! Even Texas understood it!

Thank you for posting the one and only correct response to government gun confiscation.

I've argued up and down with misguided Freepers over the last couple of days about this subject, and am damn sick of some of the cowardly suggestions being thrown around.

My favorite has to be the ludicrous suggestion that one should hand the kind jackbooted thugs a 'throwaway' gun, while keeping your 'good' guns hidden. Anyone stupid enough to think that they'll be happy with that and toddle off on their merry way, hasn't got a grasp on the seriousness and finality of a real government gun grab.

If you won't exercise your 2nd Amendment rights when tyranny is on your doorstep, you were never going to do it anyway. Might as well turn your guns in now and save them the trouble.

OK, who’s going to make the usual snide comments about “keyboard commandos”, “internet bravado”, & “anonymous phony tough talk” when the subject is resistance to gun confiscation?

The sheer enormity of the logistics of planning confiscation in America (this isn’t Britain and it sure isn’t Romania) makes the widespread kicking in of doors by police officers highly unlikely.

Watch instead for a massive governmental attempt to change the culture against gun rights advocates. Bill Clinton shouted, “Hillary & I aren’t trying to change the culture!!” when the 1994 AWB was snaking through Congress. How badly they failed to change the culture was proven later that year.

Various wordings of the Second Amendment were tried during its development. The end result *purposefully* leaves out any enumeration of reasons why an individual has the right to keep and bear Arms. Any reason *why* an individual may or may not keep and bear Arms, was left to the states and the people thereof, to settle among themselves.

The only enumeration in the Second Amendment focuses on what to do about a group of men under Arms - what is to happen when individuals who bear military grade Arms are in a group, and they *are* capable of exercising martial power. What *then,* was to become of that power?

The answer was, that both the states and the federal government would rely upon *the group* being formally mustered, well-regulated, well trained to Arms, well discplined, and answerable to civilian authority.

Both the states and the federal government sought unity of function and preparedness of the militia of each state. The state militiae should be “well trained to Arms” and be capable of, and mindful of, lawfully exercising martial power and respecting lawful civilian authority.

In the old days up to around WW-I times and for a while thereafter, there was a tradition of local militia drilling on the common, the town green, or the county fairgrounds. It gave people an opportunity to remain somewhat familiar with military duty; it helped to keep them from becoming too rusty. It demonstrated the proper practices and discipline *for all to see.*

It is a shame that most communities and counties and states got out of that practice.

All the uses of weapons, firearm or not, for non-military purposes, were left to be decided by the states and their people.

Again, there would be no condition within the Second Amendment, by which you do, or do not, have the right to keep and bear Arms; because, the Founding Fathers correctly anticipated that any such enumerated condition might be used as grounds for an individual to either be forced to bear Arms or be stripped of their Arms.

I believe that we have a duty to protect people from police states, and that we have a duty to adhere to God’s desire that we oppose a) government tyranny, b) abuses of power by government agents, and c) abuses of power by government agencies.

Also, that it was our destiny to oppose the scourge of national socialist Germany that created the system of camps by which the socialists worked to exterminate millions of people *whom the socialists blamed for ‘injustice’ and against whom the socialists sought revenge.*

But, we have care-less-ly agreed *enough* - in order to get along with - the “feral” animalists who are enthralled with the gray areas between

- being rational loving human beings, and
- slouching in Gomorrah (they call it hedonism)

Indeed, the “feral” nationalizing socialists have become the thought police for fascism *just as their predecessors did among the German population.*
