I got my first shotgun (.410) and rifle (.22) at age nine. I still have it. My son got his first at age 7. He is now 19, and a responsible gun owner himself and a heckuva great shot.

If you are old enough to be drafted and serve, you can own a gun. Period. You also should be old enough to drink alcohol. This is from an old, old sailor.

the average age of a rifle grunt in Vietnam was 19. I would assume that is true in today’s military as well. If as Blooming idiot suggests that at 19 they are not mature enough to have a weapon then the miltary should be rejecting them and they should not be voting either.

I received my 4-10 as a christmas gift when I was nine years old. It was to mean countless deaths of squirrels,rabbits, and quail but no humans were injured in the process. I joined the army when I turned 17 and the provided me with an M-16 to train with in case i needed to defend myself from foreigners with murderous intentions. It is the same old story, you are old enough to carry a weapon for Uncle Sugar but not old enough to be given adult priveleges. Now the statists want to torture the facts until they confess. May they all perish in the fires of hell. they should reserve a section with extra fire for politicians and journos.
