How Will They Confiscate Your Guns?
Keep And Bear Arms ^ | July 21, 2000 | John A. Sutter

For decades I have heard gun owners claim that the government would never be able to confiscate our firearms because the government would lose too many men. The implication being, of course, that gun owners would actively resist confiscation, even to the point of shooting back. But I believe this thinking is outdated and doesn’t align very well with reality. But before you tell me how big your honor guard in Hell will be when that day comes, let’s think about how the government could really do it.

Suppose, for the sake of argument, the government bans all civilian possession of firearms at the end of this month. Congress passes a total ban and the President cuts his own re-election throat by signing it. Gun owners get some grace period to turn them in, even beyond the deadline, without being charged with a crime. If we use Australia and Britain as examples there will still be a significant number of firearms that are not turned in. Some estimates put the Australian turn-in at less than 25% and the British faired only about 28%. But Australians and the British have long been used to obeying almost every gun control law. Not so the Americans. When laws are passed that we don’t like, we bite. We scratch. We vote. So here we sit after the guns have been collected and the amnesties have run out. Now what? Send out the personnel carriers, swat and shock troops to seize the guns from those militia “terrorists” who refused to turn them in? Don’t be silly.

The government has lots of records about you. If you purchased a firearm since 1968, chances are that they have some record of it somewhere....

The flip side of your scenario is that one innocent citizen, perhaps even a child, is killed by the storm troopers

That sort of thing would never be reported by the State Media.

I have yet to find anyone in any uniform say they would confiscate the first one. Not happening.

You probably haven't met any of obama's new National Civilian Force, have you? You know, the ones that they are buying the 1.6 billion rounds for.

They are never going to confiscate guns.
They are just going to keep the “guns are bad” meme in our schools until, in a few generations, gun ownership will make you and your family social pariahs.

Putting away some spares for a ‘rainy day’ should not impact other considerations.

For those who do not have a spare then it is time to go get one, or two, or three, or four, or...

And the first time they do it, it’ll be challenged in court.

Legal means? Worthless when the current regime is itself lawless. The rule of law in this nation was replaced by the whim of men some time ago.

Confiscation would be many orders of magnitude above all other gun laws. It would be a violation of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendments.

Yeah, and we know the fascists in this country listen to what a court says, just like Chancellor Hitler did.

Nice idea, but too complicated. Spray cans of canola oil, a vacuum packer and the PVC pipe is easier and neater. [Don’t use olive oil spray since it is slightly acidic.] When you open the sealed weapons, plain old rubbing alcohol will clean them right up for oiling and use. Of course this system would only be viable for under fifty year storage ...

“Nice idea, but too complicated.”

Not for us. We’re ranchers so all of the things we needed for our cache were already on the property. FYI the cache is NOT on our property.

(Everyone wave to the nice people from the BATFE!)

National Civilian Force? Where do I sign up? I love to shoot and it sounds like they’re only ones with ammo.

True, esp depending on location (NY gun grab attempt met fortunately with fierce determined opposition). And we have written proof in fact that conservatives are considered more of a threat (”domestic terrorists”) than violent criminals by homeland insecurity. Those “realistic targets” did not show a single minority, 7 out of 7 targets were white.

I see desire and intent to cause me/us harm. I may be fortunate where I live that these evil designs don’t work out... others elsewhere may not be so fortunate. I’m in a “God strengthen me and give me wisdom” mode.

As of this writing, it is not against any law to bury your tools ... I sell mine just as soon as I get familiar with how they operate and how to fix them. Then I buy something else I’m not familiar with and repeat the process. I figure when the collapse arrives, someone has got to do the gunsmithing to maintain the tools of defense don’tchaknow.

“So when they do show up...”

They won’t show up after they’re ambushed and killed.

Fascists might not...but other Americans will get the message:

If guns, which are property, can be confiscated, how safe is other property?

In CA they are already taking away the guns from households that have a person who has had some form of mental illness, of course in CA EVERYONE has some form of mental illness.

And the people are just giving up their guns, just like that.

After a day or two cruising popular gun forums I am seeing a very popular idea of baiting a house with guns and ammo but setting it up as a fuel air IED home, sealed and preset with the proper air fuel ration of natural or propane gas, even to the extent of setting it up with devices to simulate a human body like a heated mannequin, sounds and movement, all the while connected by video.

I most DEFINITELY won’t be tempted by any new job offers from any Federal agency in the near future, no sirree, I may be dumb at times but I’m not dying for Obamas agenda.
