Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D., N.H.) holds a commanding lead over Republican Scott Brown in a new Suffolk University poll out Thursday.
Ms. Shaheen leads Mr. Brown, the former Massachusetts senator, 49% to 39% in a poll of New Hampshire residents.
There’s still more bad news for Mr. Brown in the poll: His favorability rating trails well behind even President Barack Obama in the state. Suffolk’s poll found Mr. Brown is viewed favorably by just 35% in New Hampshire; 46% give him an unfavorable rating.

Suffolk’s last poll, in March, found Ms. Shaheen leading Mr. Brown 52% to 39%. Other polling has found the race to be much closer: A Dartmouth survey in April showed Mr. Brown only three percentage points behind Ms. Shaheen.
For Mr. Obama, those numbers in the latest Suffolk poll are 45% favorable and 49% unfavorable – even though his job approval rating in the state is just 39% — below the 41% he received nationally in the Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Wednesday. Ms. Shaheen rates 52% favorable and 37% unfavorable, Suffolk found.
The numbers are the latest evidence that the New Hampshire Senate race, despite Mr. Brown’s high-profile entrance, may not be among the top-tier contests this fall.
Ms. Shaheen, while still well ahead of Mr. Brown, is down slightly from Suffolk’s March poll, which was conducted before Mr. Brown declared his candidacy. She’s lost six percentage points from her favorability rating and three percentage points of her lead.

But the GOP Establishment wants their golden boy to be the nominee so they'll move heaven and earth to make that happen.

When Brown ran for Ted Kennedy’s seat in MA, I knew exactly what he was. Anyone who was paying attention understood his nature. But I voted for him anyway.
And I still ended up disappointed, because he was worse than I thought.
These Libs in the greater NE states are totally worthless. Shouldn’t even have a election. Save the money and just give it to the D’s. They will just buy it anyway.

He didn’t even TRY to throw conservatives a bone. Because he thought he wouldn’t need them. He thought that the independents and democrats would flood to his moderation, his “pragmatic” republicanism. The problem with this theory is that independents and democrats vote for...democrats. Because most of the independents used to be democrats who changed their registrations to impress people and so they can vote in republican primaries. That’s how we get the likes of Gabriel Gomez and Charlie Baker.
If Scott doesn’t win this time, he can find another state where the Republican left will welcome him, and he always has the option of running as a Democrat.

I think independents are republicans who register as independent so they won’t get fired from their jobs.
Dems are ruthless about that, repubs, not really.
So, the peeps in NH don’t support the Kenyan but they DO support the Kenyan’s supporter and enabler. That’s some weird thinking right there. I’ll bet they love and approve of Obama but just hate all of his policies. Low information types really freak me out.

We are tired of giving our vote to the phonies. When someone asks for my vote as a lib, I expect them to vote lib, and give grudging respect when they voate as they campaigned.
I used to vote GOP in the general, period. Never again will I vote Rino. Not only will I not vote for a Rino, I will vote against them!
Because I view Conservatism as the best hope for America; because I see Rinos as more harmful to conservatives than are libs; I therefor see Rinos as more dangerous to the future of this country, and will therefor vote agains them in the manner most likely to cause their defeat.
Which means, yes, I would vote for Jean Shaheen in order to defeat Scott Brown.
We can always count on you to come to the defense of republicans who vote like democrats, or with the democrats, which is the same thing.
It never occurs to you apparently that the point of electing republicans is so that we can have more votes for REPUBLICAN items, not just so Mitch McConnell has a higher caucus number.
And it also apparently never occurs to you that it might be a good idea for the people to choose somebody else to represent them, than somebody who votes a little less democrat than the other guy.
But I’m sure you’ll stick with your continual “but, but, but, the democrat is worse!” refrain.
The republicans easily won independents in 2012.
Independent simply means they don't belong to a party, other than that you have no idea what an independents politics are, it can be hard right, hard left, or variations of the middle, or whatever they are to that individual.
Why would a conservative vote for Scott Brown? We already know what he does once in office and it’s not to our benefit. I fail to see why New Hampshire could not produce its own candidate instead of importing one and why it has to be a failed, untrustworthy politician at that.

Romney won the Independents in 2012 nationally and in most battleground states in 2012.
I didn’t realize that your descriptions of Independents were only for New Hampshire, in that case you are right, in New Hampshire Obama’s support was 52% from Independents, and 52% from all voters.
Yes, and I was addressing Scott Brown’s calculations and manner of campaigning, and it’s all wrong. It would be better if New Hampshire REPUBLICANS pick a different candidate than him. But the New Hampshire INDEPENDENTS will vote for Brown because he’s the most moderate (i.e. democratic) and he’ll likely get the nomination. And unless there’s an anti-Shaheen or democrat wave, he’ll lose...again.
