For years Democrats have fought voter ID laws as hard as they could, claiming they’re nothing more than a Republican attempt to suppress minority votes and that voter fraud is a total non-issue. Now it appears Democrats are losing this battle:

The Left and President Obama are losing their fight to block the widespread introduction of voter ID cards. In courts of law and the court of public opinion, the issue is gaining traction. With few exceptions, liberal pressure groups have lost lawsuits in state after state, with courts tossing out their faux claims that ID laws are discriminatory, unconstitutional or suppress minority voting.
Polls show that a large majorities including Republicans, Democrats, whites, blacks and Hispanics support voter ID as a common-sense reform. The myth that voter ID is a new Jim Crow-type effort to reduce minority voting is widely rejected for the rubbish that it is — except by academia and the glitterati of the mainstream media. One Rasmussen poll found that 72 percent of the public believes all voters should prove their identities before being allowed to cast ballots, and also that when it comes to voter ID, “opinions have not changed much over the years.”
Properly drafted voter ID laws, with safeguards against absentee ballot fraud and strict limits on laws that allow people to register and vote on Election Day, improve public confidence in elections. Even though in-person voter fraud isn’t rampant, it is easy for fraudsters to commit it without getting caught.

In several states, the black voting rate exceeds that of whites! The states in shades of green had a higher rate of black voter turnout than white.
States like Tennessee, Georgia, and Indiana, with strict photo ID laws in effect, had greater participation rates among blacks in 2012. So whatever purportedly “racist” ID laws are being put into place there are not having much of an impact.
Minority voter turnout has steadily increased since 1996 – and was higher than white turnout in 2012 – and nearly every time these laws have been challenged in the courts they have been upheld. The results are clear, requiring an ID before being allowed to vote does not suppress minority participation and results in elections that are clean and fair.

In person voting at the booths fraud are small imho because they’re limited by travel time. The biggest fraud happen via mail. I’ve long suspected democrats harvest names from people and then vote in their stead via mail. This is why democrats are obsessed with getting people registered even if they don’t vote. So they could steal their identity when voting

Nursing homes, mortuaries, and cemeteries (later on) are some of the lib fraudsters’ favorite targets. Why? The residents won’t know let alone fight when the libs fake their ballots.

I support voter ID laws but you are correct. Most is done my mail in, absentee, or online.
When I first started voting and for many years after that, everyone voted on the same day. Voting by mail was unheard of unless you were in the military and, of course, we had no internet yet so voting by that method was not an option. We did have to present a valid driver’s license which included our picture in order to vote.
IMO we should do away with all this early voting garbage and maybe just have the polls open on the Saturday and Monday before the regular Tuesday voting. People who really care about voting will figure out some way to get there and vote. Unless people are in the hospital or a really old senior citizen who is unable to drive they should only vote at their polling place. Absentee voting is way over abused.
I live in Europe and observe voting habits and requirements closely. There is NO European country that doesn’t have a ID law in place. You generally vote on Sundays, and you must have an ID to prove yourself. A state ID card is mandated and free of charge. It’s the same ID that you’d use to establish a bank account or buy smokes or prove your age for booze. Even if you live in a village of 300 people, and voted for forty-odd years...the clerk will wait until you produce the ID before handing you the ballot.
Sadly, it doesn’t. Should, but doesn’t.
Why? Because liberal arguments are not based on facts, they are based on emotion and manipulation. JMHO, of course.

Voting Procedures in Honduras, a Banana Republic!

I had the opportunity to go watch my wife, a citizen of Honduras, vote in last year’s presidential election in Tegucigalpa. It was a real eye-opener, and I can only wish the US had such a strict voting process.
Everyone in Honduras is required to vote only in the precinct as indicated on their government issued (free) photo ID card. Every citizen over 18 is required to have an national ID, and everyone with an ID can vote. No one else, and no one is registered as a member of a certain party, merely a citizen. My wife’s precinct is Barrio El Bosque, so she was required to go to the Escuela de 14 de Julio (local elementary school) if she wanted to vote.
When we arrived at the voting place there were hundreds of people milling around the street and a long line was waiting to enter. The entire scene was closely watched over by Army and Policía Nacionál to make sure order was kept. For the most part everything was quite orderly, and people were polite to each other even with the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. After showing ID, passing the guard and entering the school we went to the main table in the courtyard where they ran her ID through a computer and she was given a little slip of paper that indicated her name, her precinct, her “mesa” (voting area) and “linea” number (her number on the voter registration list). Every citizen is automatically registered to vote, and their name, Id photo and precinct number is on a list posted in that precinct.
The “mesas” in this case are rooms in the school, numbered in order to handle the hundreds of people waiting to vote. Her mesa was number 8586, so after finding the room, there was a list of all registered voters beside the door. She checked her line number with photo, 235, to make sure she is at the right door, the man watching the door checked her ID against the list, and let her in. She went to the table inside the room
for a ballot, was checked again for ID and compared it to the info and photo in the registry, was given two ballots, one for president and one for congress, and this time they held her ID while she voted. I was allowed in as a foreign observer, but was not on school tables for privacy, so after voting she deposited her ballots in the appropriate boxes, was given her ID back and we left.
I wanted to take photos but no cameras were allowed anywhere but in the street. No alcohol is sold anywhere in Honduras from Saturday through Monday, the day before and the day after election.
They take voter ID, and potential vote fraud, VERY seriously. All ballots are paper, and all have the candidate’s info and photo. There are eight official parties in Honduras, and the one with the most votes wins. The police and the army watch the voting very closely. One woman was caught with an extra ballot, and was immediately arrested. The Honduras news media, which is quite politically unbiased, indicated that both local and official foreign observers found only three cases of vote fraud in the entire country.
It was certainly an eye-opener for me! If this is the difference between a the US and a Banana Republic, then I’ll take a banana republic election anytime.
That would explain the army's presence at the polls.
Funny how Liberals embrace European Socialism as a model for what they think America should be, but the ignore the details that don’t fit the narrative.
In Europe as you pointed out, Voter ID is a requirement.
Another curious thing about Europe are their Abortion Laws.
In most of Europe, and you can correct me if I am mistaken, Abortion on Demand is limited to the First Trimester and exceptions to that rule are few and far between.
In this Country, those same Liberals would blow a gasket of we dared to suggest that we adopt the same standard. I guess that also applies to changing our Immigration Policy to the one Mexico has in place today.
They have no argument. I have to show my id at the store just to make a purchase, to prove I am the owner of the cc. The ONLY reason to not demand ID is because you want to cheat. There is no other valid reason.
What you generally say on the European version of Abortion laws is correct. Beyond the first trimester....a doctor would have to sign some paperwork to indicate that the life of the mother is at risk, and the hospital ‘front’ would review it and allow it to proceed.
I would say this though....if you were dissatisfied with your countries laws on such...you could get in a car and drive for a couple of hours to find a country with more lax standards. It’s rare, and you have to remember...there is a massive amount of information provided in schools and via doctors about birth-control. So, you just don’t have the numbers that you see in the states because of this information flow going to the public.
In Orange County, Florida, photo id is required to access the landfill.

I kid you not a person of color I worked with many years ago was spouting off about an encounter his son had at a grocery store. He stated that when his son was purchasing alcohol the clerk asked for his ID. The RACIST clerk asked for his ID to prove he was 21. Through our discussion we could not correlate in any fashion what the clerk did that was racist.
