Incompetent CA DMV Had 13 Years To Implement Real ID Program
Canada Free Press ^ | 08/17/18 | Katy Grimes

In California, the birthplace of the high tech industry, why can't the DMV manage to put a reliable computer system in place? Why such gross incompetence? And why can't a college student get a replacement driver's license before October?

Those incredibly long lines at California DMVs look more like the release of the iPhone X or ticket sales for Beyonce and JayZ. But they are not. People are stuck in long DMV lines just to renew and update their driver’s licenses.

Yet the notorious California Department of Motor Vehicles is about to be rewarded for its ineptitude and failures by the California Legislature with an unlimited budget.

Because the DMV isn't part of the high tech industry - it's an arm of the government, which is the birthplace of inefficiency, waste and fraud.

I just had to get the Real ID Drivers License here in IN.

Walked in, got the brochure on what I needed.

Took my Birth Certificate, Social Security card, a bank statement and utility bill, and took a whole 15 minutes to renew my license.

Mitch Daniels worked wonders on our DMV while he was Governor

And for ID confirmation, just ask the nearest government unicorn.

I think the plan is to raise the taxes on the wealthy again but now everyone gets a Unicorn to transport them.

As if the CA DMV wanted to implement this!

They were quite competent in thwarting the law by not implementing it.

Because their systems are still Televideo 965’s which are too cutting edge for modern systems.

They were created by aliens and are highly proprietary.

You basically have to find an electronics gray marketer for sparebparts...

Yes, a Federally mandated citizen database national id via State “RealID” biometric DMV card is simply the price needed to pay to combat all the illegal aliens and fraud that the Federal gov’t deliberately fosters.
Read below and link if you want the red pill...

Real ID
Who is processing your state’s Real ID? Chances are good that it is IDemia, a global corporation that runs the biometric programs for billions of citizens worldwide, including the Real ID programs in at least 42 states. Reader GNO sent in this link to this document that explains who they are and what they do. This is starting to get a bit worrisome.

I scheduled an appointment and was done getting my Real Id in about 30 minutes. I think appoints take about 45+ days to get now. It could have been faster but I didn’t know about the new process where you can fill out all the paperwork on line before you go to the DMV. The normal lines were several hours long while I was there.

Twenty minutes to convert my California license to Massachusetts just over a week ago.

When Massachusetts RMV can handle this efficiently, it says a lot about the California DMV.

Sheesh, just plan ahead a little bit and get an appointment. In July, I was in and out of the Los Gatos DMV getting my eye exam and Real ID in 45 minutes. The biggest problem was the God Awful User Interface on their kiosks. Many of the UI elements and navigation items made zero sense. Even terminology changed midstream from “Renew your driver license” to “Get a card.” WTH is a “Card”? I asked and they said “Oh, that’s the same as a driver license.” Common sense is not the strong suit of DMV computer system design.

Who needs Driver’s Licenses....

They are becoming the dreaded "internal passports" we derided the Communist countries for having.

Yes, if you are an illegal alien. They can do anything they want in our lovely sanctuary state. Gavin Newsom will make sure.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this a TSA requirement that California took to court and lost and now we, it’s citizens, must stand in line to obtain before the TSA deadline. And, for what it’s worth, I scheduled an appointment and it still took four plus hours to process. The state wouldn’t until recently allow extra hires to expedite the process and now they’ve authorized extended hours/days and overtime. Someone explain to me again how government is the be all, end all to our problems.
