Bad Lindsey Graham Has Made a Comeback
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Bad Lindsey Graham has re-taken the body. – In case you hadn’t noticed, Bad Lindsey Graham has made a comeback this year. Good Lindsey Graham came increasingly to the fore last year as John McCain’s absence due to illness and subsequent death released Graham from his daily duties of following McCain around like a puppy on a leash.

Unleashed Lindsey turned out to be a pretty consistently conservative guy and loyal supporter of his country’s best interests and of a President from his own party, quite the direct contrast to Senator From the News Media McCain. Go figure. He was so good, in fact, that his powerful, impromptu speech before the Senate Judiciary Committee in the midst of the Democrats’ despicable smearing of Brett Kavanaugh last October very likely changed the entire course of that nomination.

So it was that, when Unleashed Lindsey ascended to the Chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee in January, conservatives were encouraged that he would continue the aggressive conduct of the Committee’s business that we had seen under Chuck Grassley. Grassley had done stellar work in confirming judicial nominees and investigating the real criminals in the Spygate scandal. Unleashed Lindsey himself talked a good game, promising repeatedly throughout the winter and into the spring to use his chairmanship to aggressively pursue the Obama-era scumbags who utterly corrupted the FBI and intelligence agencies. As recently as March 25, Graham was overtly promising that his Committee would conduct its own, parallel investigation into Spygate’s origins even as Attorney General William Barr conducted his own inquiry at the Department of Justice.

But since then? Crickets.

As the Democrat-dominated House committees have tossed out hundreds of subpoenas and conducted an aggressive hearing schedule designed to turn public opinion against President Donald Trump and the GOP, Unleashed Lindsey has done…nothing. Not a single hearing. Not one subpoena. No letters to the DOJ containing criminal referrals.

Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Unleashed Lindsey, it seems, has been re-leashed, and this time we don’t have John McCain to blame. Indeed, there is no difference at all between Re-Leashed Lindsey’s conduct of the Judiciary Committee and the conduct of the Senate Intelligence Committee by its’ Chairman, deep state skunk Richard Burr of North Carolina. With Republican “friends” like these controlling the key Senate committees, President Trump has no need for enemies.

So, who has “gotten to” Re-Leashed Lindsey? Does it matter, really? Back in early May, the Campaign Update expressed the concern that Graham was one of the most easily-compromisable senators in Washington. It appears that concern was well-founded.

Graham and his Committee continue to confirm President Trump’s judicial nominees at a record pace, and for that we should all be grateful, since Obama, in his efforts to corrupt every institution in our society, had obviously succeeded in corrupting the federal judiciary as well. But Re-Leashed Lindsey’s do-nothing posture towards his Committee’s investigative powers will, if continued, forever be a stain on his senate career.

That is all.

I’m sure he’s left many stains on men’s pants too.

But at least he goes to bat for Trump sometimes.

A handful of others have. A handful. Its shameful.

I don’t get the crying need some of these ‘Republican’ politicians have to flip-flop on issues.

I can only guess that their egos get in the way of their allegiance to the guy who is responsible for ALL the attention or status they currently enjoy.

Otherwise, they would be in the background of some fuzzy B/W snapshot of Liberals who, (despite their MANY faults and failings), DO comprehend allegiance to their leaders

If I remember correctly, Conservatives are truthful, measured in their responses, conducts due diligence and presents facts in a logical order. Liberals on the other hand are emotional wrecks who are triggered by facts and reason, turning everything into a political nightmare, not caring about the people they represent and are power hungry.

2020 is the year of the Senate. Republicans can lose it if they start acting like liberals. Keep getting those justices appointed and don’t worry about much else. If Republicans hold the Senate, take back the House and Trump wins reelection, add in that RBG or someone else in SCOTUS may call it a day there is an opportunity to change a lot of things.

We need to keep our powder dry and not get emotional like the libs and whining about why we aren’t doing what the libs are doing.

Conservatives also believe in the rule of law and are offended that rampant abuse of power and clearly illegal actions of top people in the intelligence and law enforcement arms of our nation have taken place without a single person being indicted. Unlike Democrats who rage into mouth foaming diatribes about fake crimes that never happened (and wouldn't even be crimes, technically) we conservatives have indisputable evidence of widespread systemic violations of law that are being ignored because people in power don't want to to upset the apple cart. OUR people in power don't want to upset the apple cart, so they let it slide.

That is offensive to me and I want it to stop.

Graham is like a Sith apprentice. He needs a Sith Lord to follow. It used to be McCain. Now it’s Trump.

I voted for Tinkerbelle once, in 2002 after Strom Thurmond passed. Voted against him ever since (the Democrats who opposed him were more good ole boy than liberal).

He’s regarded as senator-for-life but if Flimsey had to run as a Buttygay full out faggie, he’d lose in South Carolina. At last.

Anytime something has the potential to affect the pockets of Globalists/USCoc/Tom Donahue/pals Graham can be expected to put on a show, but nothing substantive.

In so far as holding the coup gang responsible, don’t expect Graham to rock the boat, but will play along with Dems/Rinos/Uniparty/media to ensure this thing is handled like they did with Hillary. Other matters...perhaps expect Graham unleashed.

“I don’t get the crying need some of these ‘Republican’ politicians have to flip-flop on issues.”

I think it’s because only President Trump and a scant few other Republican politicians understand that big government is corrupt by its very nature.

Instead, most Republicans - even many well-meaning ones - believe big government can be tamed for the good. They fight corruption where they see it, but at the same time they defend and even nurture the big government that enables corruption, thrives on it, and exists to feed it.

“Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely”. I forget who to credit with that timeless statement of truth, but it describes to a T the ascension of our huge federal behemoth and it’s various sycophants, parasites and lobbyists.

The Democrat Party, it’s MSM mouthpiece and the permanent deep state bureaucracy are, of course, out-of-the-closet lovers of big government and openly embrace the swamp. They ARE the big government, they ARE the corruption - their behavior is understandable and predictable - they are the hungry wolves tearing at the flesh of the Republic, feeding - trying to stay alive.

The behavior of most Republicans is more perplexing - they flip-flop between right and wrong - often seeming to make the right promises, but then failing to keep them.

I don’t think it can all be explained by fickleness, or being “compromised”.

I think many of them have the stirrings of a conscience and the desire to fight evil when they see it - but they DON’T see it. They are not convinced, as we are, that the federal government is orders of magnitude too big - and therefore hopelessly corrupted and teaming with parasites. It must be gotten rid of, not tamed. But even many of the good guys in politics fail to see that. One exception is President Trump, and nearly everyone in DC hates him for it - he is a threat to their very existence.

Lindsey Graham, when confronted with true evil during the Kavanaugh hearings/smearings, stood squarely against it. He fought passionately to defend this innocent man against an evil attack. But like so many elected Republicans, he also defends big government against attack with the same passion.

He is oblivious to the fact that big government and evil are one-in-the-same.

D Day reminds us that perhaps some of this same schizophrenia exists in all of us: At times, we have entrusted the federal government with the awesome power needed to end slavery, liberate Europe and the South Pacific, win the Cold War, become the sole superpower and economic giant that we are.

All noble causes to be sure, but are we then complicit in allowing the federal government to expand irrevocably beyond the limits placed on it by the Founders?

No one should put any faith in the likes of Graham. When he’s useful to Trump it’s a bonus. In the end, when it really counts, I expect nothing from him.

“...I don’t think it can all be explained by fickleness, or being “compromised”...”

Maybe so, but-it seems to me that, THAT is why an ‘oath of office’ is administered. At that point you commit to the party and their vision.

I don’t think anyone in the GOP will ask fellow Republicans to tear babies in half and eat them...however, kicking and screaming like unreasonable children every single time you feel the President OWES absolute deference to YOU and YOUR views, can hardly be called ‘allegiance’ of any kind.

Sit down with the man and do ‘politics’ to get past it or to reach some agreement on how to go forward. It’s WHY you were elected and took that ‘oath’. But DON’T openly and gratuitously impede his every plan and defy every word he utters.

Republican Congressmen need to control their personal egos and support THIS President or else return GOP campaign money, change parties and campaign to take his place. It’s that simple.

The President deserves MUCH better!!

“...THAT is why an ‘oath of office’ is administered. At that point you commit to the party and their vision....”

I think the oath is to protect and uphold the Constitution - not the party platform.

But in this case you are right, it would be almost the same thing: Candidate Trump forced the GOP to draw up a party platform that does just that - protects the Constitution, puts America first, defends the 2nd Amendment, drains the swamp - if the GOP had honored the party platform, they would also have kept their oath of office.

A lot of them are confused about what it is they are there to protect - they think the federal bureaucracy IS the Republic. So when President Trump comes along and tries to eliminate job killing regulations, drain the swamp, quit bad policies and stupid deals, they think he’s the threat!

Guys like Toomey (here in PA) think they are the patriots, they actually believe they are protecting the Republic from a reckless President. They have just been in DC way too long - they really think the federal government is what makes America great.
