Corruption is changing. The old school corruption is where a politician takes a bribe or payoff. These days, the politician doesn't take it themselves, but steers it to an adult child or a best friend. And both political parties are doing it.
It's really a question of the kind of leadership we're going to have. It's impossible for our leaders to respond to what we want — to make good decisions — if a chief motivation is to enrich their families and themselves.
When you trace the money, you often find it comes from foreign governments like China and from oligarchs in places like Ukraine. And they are willing to throw big money at the political families of our leaders to get favorable policy outcomes.
Think about this. Whether you are Joe Biden or Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, you have to disclose a $500 campaign contribution. You also might have to disclose $500 in stock in, say, General Electric, to understand where your financial interests lie.
But they don't have to expose if their adult child is getting a billion dollar private equity deal from the government of China. And its seems to me that's a lot bigger conflict of interest.
Peter Schweizer latest corruption book is publishing this week. I’ve been catching up with my reading, and the guy really knows how to explain corruption as simply as can be.

I once ate at Marcos’ favorite dinner place — The Diamond Room at the Manila Hotel. As we dined, a 20 piece string orchestra was right in front of us playing the Sounds of Music and other lovely tunes.
I’m glad the Philippines is on a better course toward freedom and lower corruption.

Mysteriously, Bill Clinton then allows our rocket technology to be sold to the Chinese.
The Democrats have understood this for decades. Look how rich Pelosi, Biden, Kerry and Feinstein have become while in congress.

You're right - Peter Schweitzer's a great patriot... His thesis also explains why so many of the crooks in DC want 'hands off' of the Biden/Hunter Biden scandal... it'll exposes hundreds of 'em to scrutiny.
And the only cure for this problem is term limits.
