They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing. —Psalm 92:14.

Our faltering steps and ebbing strength
Reveal life as a fading page;
Yet holding firm to Christ in faith
Keeps hope alive at any age.

Better than counting your years is making all your years count.

Growing In Old Age

Read: Psalm 92:12-15

They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing. —Psalm 92:14.

Bible In One Year: Nehemiah 4-6; Acts 2:22-47

We have a gnarled, ancient plum tree in our backyard that has seen better days. Its bark is dark and creased with age, its limbs are sparse and spindly, and it leans about 45 degrees to the west. Two years ago I had to cut off some branches on one side and the tree lost its symmetry.

I thought we had lost it for sure several winters ago when we had a stretch of sub-zero weather. The man who sprays our trees said he believed it was dead. Yet it came to life that spring and continues to do so every year. Each April that old tree shrugs off the winter and puts out blossoms—fragrant pink flowers that grow profusely and beautify our yard. As I write this article, I can smell its sweetness in the air.

That plum tree endures because it has roots that tap deep into the soil. It draws its strength and nourishment from hidden subterranean sources.

And so it is with us. Our ability to endure—no, to flourish-is dependent on our being rooted in Christ. Those who read His Word, reflect on it, and pray it into their lives bring forth the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), even into old age. As Psalm 92:14 says, "They shall be fresh and flourishing." —David Roper

Our faltering steps and ebbing strength
Reveal life as a fading page;
Yet holding firm to Christ in faith
Keeps hope alive at any age. —D. De Haan

Better than counting your years is making all your years count.

Why would a cat statue be cramping your neck?...

You're welcome. I don't write poetry, so I sometimes post song lyrics. (I am not well acquainted with most poetry, but do sometimes listen to music.)

Umm.. because some adventurous type decided that my head looked like a place to set a golden fat cat shaped idol?
(My cat is SO gonna kill me for busting on her.)

You don't feel well this morning?
Here's to feeling better soon!

Sometimes when I'm asleep the psychocat will try to curl around my head.
It doesn't work as she planned, ever.
I end up with a cricked neck and shed fur up my nose, and she looks imperiously at me from the top of my head.
(It's horrible to open one eye and see an upside down Klyben Cat face looking at me.)

I'm still here, not falling down yet.
The coffee is rather good however.

My hubby's psycho-cat used to sleep on his head too. Maybe it's a psycho-cat trait, they're trying to psyche us out.

Are you drinking both, Everclear and your coffee? (It's waaayy too early for Everclear.)

Just the coffee.
The Everclear stuff is too 'afternoonish' for the moment.

Seems to be a psycho-cat trait.
I think it's so they can keep an eye on us while we sleep, just in case.
I've had a secret fear of the bird 'putting a hit' out on me with the cat, and having the cat 'bump me off' in my sleep one of these nights.
Thankfully(?), the bird is no more [old age] and there isn't anything else that would do that... I hope.

My cat likes to sleep next to me, and if it's cold, under the covers with his head on the pillow. Sometimes when he's had his face toward mine I have found a scratch or 2 on my face in the morning. I didn't sleep well last night due to not feeling well. I think I turned the air up too high because I woke up during the night (one of the 2 times) my cat was under the covers next to me with his little head on the pillow. (Awwwww...) No scratches this morning.

Kearen doesn't get under the blankets.
The last cat I had that did such was the bobcat-domestic mix I had named 'Mimi'.
She'd get under blankets and look cute.
