The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XXI~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

The Glasses

They came in my Christmas stocking.
Two.
Short, thick, square.

What cute drinking glasses
Washed and waiting on the shelf!
I grabbed one by the top,
Filled it with water,
Then sipped.

Like drool,
the water dripped
from the sides to the floor.

What a strange glass!

Through practice,
I learned to drink from the corner.
An excellent little spout!

Happy birthday to you!
they sang.

“Mom, why are these in your cabinet?”
my daughter asks before she cuts my cake.
She holds the two glasses
Like stop signs in her hands.

I answer with the traditional What?
“Why are the votive candle holders in the cabinet?”
she asks as I step into the kitchen.
Her serious eyes roll upward.
Her smile grows to laughter,
And she tell her siblings,
“Mom thought the votive holders were drinking glasses!”

How was I to know?
No candles came with them.
No labels, no instructions.
They were cute little glasses while they lasted.

"You sure?? LOL"

Well, not completely, there has been a time or two when wine may have clouded my judgement as much as my walking, therefore I can't say with real certainty that I haven't.

Watching the sunlight fade
against trees silhouetted by a dusky sky
with still a hint of rosy hue

Stars are hiding out of sight
waiting their chance to shine
which is their due

Good evening Miss Feather . . . a change of pace for me, I'm trying my hand at other forms of poetry, I'm not not sure what you'd call this . . . but . . . it's definitely not haiku . . . ;-)

TeeHee . . . I googled for dragonfly wings and this was one of the images that came up . . . and of course, being the "cheeky" little miss that I am, I couldn't resist posting it . . . .;-)

A little something now, and maybe more once the severe weather and possible tornados drift away! ;^)

Storm

Black winds tear at the ebon night sky,
as stark white jagged spears are loosed to fly.
Trees moan in the battling winds set about,
and spirits hide as the lights go out.

Thunder walks the night, setting all in doubt,
as rain in sheets does hide the world about.
Peace is sitting by the fire, and here I tend to laze,
until Nature vents her wrath, and finally sleep in a daze!

Purpose

I weep,
for a hollowness within,
in the darkness,
old hurts still burn.

Yet,
I welcome that,
for it means I still live,
still feel.

By that,
I know I will go on,
I will remember,
even as the years turn.

My life is,
a monument to those gone,
lived to remember them,
as my emotions reel.

At peace,
in His light,
I surrender to His ways,
understanding, when I but yield.

I smile,
for at last I know,
I am the one, who will remember,
holding on to memory’s seal.
