Do not try and resist.

It is useless.

'Face, I leave for Tokyo in the morning. Don't know if I'll have time to get on the Internet before I get home Tuesday. Hope you'll enjoy this month's digs.

Hi Sionnsar,

Sorry I missed you last night.

Things are good here, same old.

How is your trip going?
Is it all work, or are you getting to do tourist things too?
How's the food?

Oh, how interesting!

Actually, to me it is, but only because I know most of these folks (we had some new members and visitors this time). From left to right: USA, can't ID, Australia (x2), Egypt, Holland, Japan (x7), Korea (x3)...

What's scary, when I stop to think about it, is the influence these people will have on the lives of people around the world. International standards on "indoor air quality" (the World Health Organization sent a delegate to this meeting for the first time because of the work on that issue), standards on lighting, acoustics and other aspects of a positive indoor environment (the research this will provoke will be a good thing, IMHO -- though it was funny, I learned at breakfast this morning, how my use of a semi-professional digital camera to take personal photos of the meeting identified me as someone sensitive to lighting issues to that particular group), and other aspects of buildings.

Hi, fanfan! No problem -- I'm in a time zone so far from you all it's hard to keep up. It's early morning there, and I'm about to turn in for the night.

Trip is going fine. I've been able to do some tourist things. Arrived Monday night (local time) and had Tuesday off, so a colleague and I toured some of the palaces and markets of Seoul. Thursday afternoon the whole committee was taken on a tour... of a palace complex my colleague and I had toured two days before. The "Sacred Garden" there is, to my eye, exquisitely beautiful in its autumn colors.

We wound up mid-afternoon today (we were supposed to wrap up by 12:30, but a battle broke out over some issue before us), and after that I took a bus tour of Seoul, stopping off at the Korea Folk Museum (where I learned about life in Korea from near-prehistoric to recent times, and of the making and the many, many varieties of kimchi) and yet another impressive palace complex, before heading back to the hotel and dinner at a nearby Korean barbeque restaurant (delicious, though I find Korean chopsticks a bit difficult to handle, quite unlike Chinese and Japanese).

Maybe I should post a photo or two, next time I get online?

You are a very good girl.

I just did a 18 hour round trip. About half way back last night I would have kicked the back of my own seat if I could have.

Good morning to you! I have a guest coming for the weekend, a 10-year-old boy, so I don't have to clean, but I do have to stock up on food :-).

Believe me, for those involved it's more than "interesting." Yesterday I watched a fight that in normal (non-committee) circumstances would likely have devolved to a fight or duel, spin itself out into deferment in the committee process.

But it's late at night here and I have to get up early for the trip to Tokyo, so I'm signing off. I'll be back when I can...

There is supposed to be a monster-sized development project in Seoul, tantamount to building a small city. Did you see it? Anyway, a photo or two would be appreciated.
Good luck in your endeavors.

OH, please do post more photos.

Korea Folk Museum (where I learned about life in Korea from near-prehistoric to recent times, and of the making and the many, many varieties of kimchi)

That must have been fascinating!

I find Korean chopsticks a bit difficult to handle, quite unlike Chinese and Japanese).

You mean they don't have elastics on them?
Hee,hee...joke. I can use chop sticks. How are Korean ones different?

Have a good sleep, see you in the morning.

:-)
