Wow, is it a rule that Connie Willis must win every time she is nominated for one of these awards? She is awesomely good of course.

I live about ten miles from the event. I didn't go either.

The price of the con has risen quite a bit since I last attended one. At the door this year, it was $200 for the whole thing. If was less if you registered earlier.

The "Escape Pod" podcast (http://escapepod.org/ ) had readings of each of the short story nominees over the past month or so.

I think one of the good innovations this year was taster memberships, but the only downfall to them, especially for us who ended up working on the days of the con, was that they could only be refunded up to 7pm. To get the three hours of use out of them, you'd have to register no later than 4pm, and make sure you were in line when the 7pm call came.
Day memberships were $80 for Hugo and Masquerade Night. In the end, after catching some of the pictures from the Con, I'm actually happy I didn't go. I guess I got spoiled by too many LosCons, but that was about as industrial-minimalist I've ever seen a dealer room, and the rest of the Con seemed to follow suit. Bad job on the host committee, alas.

I used to go to the Loscons too. I think I'm still a LASFS member - "Death will not release you." :)

Thanks. :)
Have you ever attended a WorldCon?

It's Yokohama, Japan in 2007 and Denver in 2008.

LASFS ran this con too. They are great at running cons. So is NESFA (Boston).

So is it in the rules that Connie Willis wins one of these every year?
One of her first stories, "Daisy, in the Sun", is one of my alltime favorite SF stories. But for some reason I haven't read much else she's written.
