Thanks for posting that. Have already posted it to a couple of different boards to show people exactly what waterboarding is.
Actually, while I see value in the "makes you scared and your heart beat fast" conclusions people make to show this isn't torture, I don't like the actual techniques getting publicized.
And for those moral relativists who say that we convicted Japanese soldiers for waterboarding, there is one important distinction.
They waterboarded strictly for punishment and for their own kicks, whereas we waterboarded to extract information that would save lives.
It’s the same as the difference between murder and justifiable homicide.
the brilliance of water boarding is that it takes physiology into account along with the psychological fear of drowning. Being under water with head up is not the same as lying down with head below feet having a cloth over your head with water being poured on your face. Once water gets into your nose, the physiological response comes in to breathe. When you can’t the psychological fear of drowning kicks in and bammo, you have someone who wants the boarding to stop immediately.
When Christopher Hitchens had it done to him, he was so frozen with panic he couldn’t drop the weight to alert he wanted it to stop.
Yes I have.
I think it’s simply a reflex, and most of the commentary and explanation in the video was rather fanciful. You have to watch out for this when you snorkel. Normally you’re in the prone position, so no problem, but if you try turning on you back, you can get “water up your nose”, which induces a feeling of panic.
I agree it doesn’t look like much when you watch it.
The Chopper elevator was the most effective when there were ‘two’ detainees -—— first one gets an express elevator ride to the dirt (minus the benefit of elevator), the second knows he’s next.
“Torture” is having to listen to Hillary Clinton speak.
And that’s before breakfast!
Or lib's it a Klansman with a bomb about to go off in a black church sunday school full of kids
He’s probably figuring it’s a lot like “marine biology” at the one of the mansion whirlpool parties.
I have always wanted to visit the grotto before I die. ;)
I have chronic sinusitis and have been forced to breath through my mouth for most of my life due to congestion. I stumbled upon a technique used by Yoga's as a "cleansing ritual". They use a small pot, much like you'd use to water house plants, and pass a warm isotonic salt solution through one nostril and out the other. You do this while breathing through your mouth. After you've flushed about a half pint through you change sides and flush the other side. There is also a similar technique for further cleansing where the flow through the nose is allowed to pass to your throat.
Millions of people do this as a twice a day routine. I imagine they scratch their heads in wonder as to what's so tough about water in your nose? It works wonderfully well to de-gunk the all eight sinus cavities. My allergist (a Siek) told me it was a very effective way to reduce congestion without taking antihistamines, after I had inquired about the practice. I have been doing this for several years now and breath freely through my nose.

I have the same problem, except water get trapped in my ear when I do it because I have scars from tubes.
ROFL
Yes, I know of it and use a similar device attached to a water pik with non iodized salt to cleanse my sinuses. Difference is that you have your head at such an angle where water is able to pass through one nostril and out the other. Water boarding doesn’t allow for that and the rush of water is much more than what you are doing. If you don’t believe me, have someone try water boarding you! :P
