Workers unearth unusual skull in North Dallas
A plumber working on a construction project outside a North Dallas school unearthed a mysterious skull.
We all know its a primate, said David Evans, 25, of Alvarado. We just dont know which kind.
The skull was buried about five feet underground, he said. Its six inches from front to back and two inches wide.
Most of the teeth, including one-inch canines, are intact.
Evans said the skull was discovered last week at the St. Alcuin Montessori School near Churchill Way and Preston Road.
A noted anthropologist for the Tarrant County Medical Examiners office, Dr. Dana Austin, viewed photographs of the skull and said it was definitely an old-world primate, possibly a monkey or chimp.
She said it was impossible to determine from the photos the age of the skull.
Evans, who talked to other experts, said he believes it may be a baboon.
"From everybody at UTA and everybody I've been talking to, (its) possibly a baboon, he said. But how it got to 635, right there at Churchill and Preston, I have no idea."
Evans and other workers also found a small bone nearby, apparently from the same animal.
"It appears to be part of a femur or hip, he said.
Evans plans to sell the skull if someone offers him a good price, but also may keep it as a conversation piece.
"If somebody comes over, that's an hour right there, he said laughing.

Saving for Helen Thomas photo gag.
Dinosaur’s roamed near that area a gazillion years ago. Foot prints can be found around Glen Rose, TX which is more in the Ft Worth area.
If it was found about 3 ot 4 hours south of Dallas I’d say
it came from a typical Houston area mosquito.
Early Dallas Cowboy fan?...brain pan size is about right. ;~)

Trying to figure it out will require some skull sweat. The skull duggery has already been done in extracting it from the earth.
Because he's one of those evil capitalists ... Just a rhetorical answer.
It's probably a yellow dog Democrat.
It’s a protobush.
The family’s associations with skull and bones goes waaaayyyy back...
After comparing the skull with the other skulls, I would say it is definitely NOT a baboon, but most resembles a Chimp. They really need to get a researcher out there fast to examine the ground for evidence of natural deposition or dug burial. The spacing on the upper incisors seems a little different, and I think the cheekbone is a little heavier. Anyone else see something extra?
Someone’s pet, circus animal?
Missing Link?
looks like a Big Tooth to me
Donate to whom?
Museum. It is a very interesting find.
Thanx for pics-some really nasty teeth.
Kind of off the wall idea but maybe an exotic “pet” that died and the owner decided to dispose of?
The only thing interesting is probably where it was found. It is likely a primate (looks chimpy to me) that someone had. I don’t think a museum would be interested in it. However, I could be wrong.
