Drummer Bobby Graham, who played on some of the best-known hits of the 1960s, has died at the age of 69.
Graham was heard on number one singles by The Kinks, Tom Jones and Dusty Springfield, and said he appeared on a total of 40 UK top five hits.
Graham also claimed The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein asked him to join the band after Pete Best left in 1962...
Graham's website said he performed on songs including Petula Clark's Downtown, Englebert Humperdinck's Release Me and The Kinks' You Really Got Me.
Other notable appearances included Dusty Springfield's I Only Want To Be With You, Tom Jones' Green, Green Grass of Home and the Walker Brothers' Make It Easy On Yourself.
Graham died after a long battle with stomach cancer, according to Patrick Harrington, who worked with the drummer on his autobiography.

Rock and roll will never die
Sad. You Really Got Me - one of the great rock hits.
Bump. Boom-ti-di-boom-da-boom-sha-da-da-crash.
>>Rock and roll will never die<<
But we’re losing some of the structural people like Graham and Mary Travers.
It looks more and more like the non-musical hip-hop (read: kill whitey) is getting more and more of a foothold.
We may see rock and roll die yet, courtesy of Gen X, Gen Y and Millennials.
Being a drummer ( as well as Kinks fan ) myself I had heard of him . DOWNTOWN and I ONLY WANNA BE WITH YOU two of the best female sung hits of the mid 60’s . Had no idea he’d played on those tunes . R.I.P. Bobby .
The Kinks were a huge inspiration for a lot of punk groups.
RIP.

The Kinks didn’t have a drummer when they first recorded this, so Talmy brought in a session musician named Bobby Graham to play. When they recorded this the second time, Mick Avory had joined the band as their drummer, but Talmy didn’t trust him and made him play tambourine while Graham played drums. One other session musician was used - Arthur Greenslade played piano.
It was rumored that Jimmy Page, who was a session musician at the time, played guitar on this. The band strongly denies this.
From what I know, Jimmy Page did session with the Kinks but on “Revenge” and “Bald-Headed Woman”

If “they go in threes”, there will be a third (Mary Travers also passed).
RIP drum brother.
Songstress Bridget Bardit seens to have survied this round of threes.
