Beppe Bigazzi says cat is better than chicken

A top Italian food writer has been suspended indefinitely from the country’s version of the television programme Ready Steady Cook for recommending stewed cat to viewers as a “succulent dish”.

Succulent?

It’s not bad.

It’s nothing to write home about.

I don’t recall it tasting a great deal different than dog or even than chicken, for that matter.

The Chinese eat almost anything that wiggles and grows.

I've had unwanted cats show up before. My basic choices are to feed them indefinitely, or hand them over to the humane society, who will gas them and toss the corpses into the garbage.

The chef wasn't recommending people eat cats. He was explaining how to prepare them so that they are succulent and delicious. There's a lot more to it than tossing the thing on a grill. And it's possible that knowledge will make you a better chef, even when cooking something more 'acceptable' like horse meat or dog.

I wouldn't expect anything less from a bunch of Godless heathens. Maybe, they should try each other. It would help with the overpopulation problem.

Yeah, cutting off the fur would be a great idea for starters. Burned cat hair... phew.

My “little precious” is sleeping on the floor behind me... glad she doesn’t know I’m on this thread, or she’d do her best to kill and eat ME.

Your cat is ALWAYS trying to kill and eat you. You're just fortunate that they're generally lazy.

A friend of mine used to work for a coroner. He says that whenever a dog owner dies at home and the body is discovered a few days later, they find the dog whimpering next to the deceased. If it's a cat owner, they always find the cat eating the owner's corpse.

Let's be careful out there.

They did that during the Cultural Revolution, too.

It’s predicted that Americans will be eating aborted babies and helping dying loved ones die earlier so they can have a meal in the coming famine.

The Chinese are a precious people whom I love dearly . . . with a greater emphasis still in some areas on relationships. . . much more than Americans have left, by a long shot.

People are pretty much the same the world over. The heart of man is the problem. And that’s the same everywhere.

Yep, practical and resourceful. That’s how I like my pets. They’re also good with sweet and sour sauce.

3-5

DIFFERENT

Christian prophetic sources over the last 5 or so years.

I didn’t make copies or keep refs.

Sorry.

Many such have predicted severe famine world wide including the USA. Some have mentioned those specifics.

The Children of Israel were so judged and afflicted at times, too.

You could Google

Beppe Bigazzi says cat is better than chicken

Well, cat is an acquired taste, I can assure you.

I found it to be a bit tough, gamy, with a aftertaste that is indescribable.

But, I've eaten dog, rat, bat, coon, possum, bear, most every bird around, some bugs, lot of snakes, a few alligators and a camel.

I assure you that chicken as we know it from the super market is far better than anything aforementioned, to include cat.

Now, as to horse versus beef...well, hands down, the horse tastes better.

For all the squeamish ninnies that gasp and groan, just remember this...there are many like me that would eat you if it came down to survival.

I've not partaken of the long pig, but I would if I had to.

Maybe Chef Beppe could find a recipe or two...just in case?

And no, my name ain't Bear Grylls.

He ain't the only one around with good common sense.

Well, it does fit in with predictions in Revelation 6, where the cost of a single meal for one person is a whole day’s wage. While that is already the case in some places, especially where famine exists, the implication is this becomes a worldwide phenomenon in the Tribulation.

My french father in law was in Algeria during that war, one day he came back to camp, his buddies had a great tasting stew, he had a bowl, and went looking for his cat, he asked if anyone had seen it, they said oui - at dinner.

They, uh did that for some time in the Great Leaps Forward from Mao. Utter starvation. About which see: the holodomor, Stalin’s most effective means of genocide. 10 million dead in one year- works faster than concentration camps.

Reminds me of the movie/novel King Rat, James Clavell. Jap prison camps where there was a going concern raising large jungle rats. In Louisiana of course they raise and export nutria- major buyers— the French.

OldSmaj—And then there is mountain groundhog!

Poor Groundhog

Shoulder up your gun and whistle up your dog
Shoulder up your gun and whistle up your dog
We’re goin out to hunt groundhog, poor groundhog.

Here comes Sal with a snigger and a grin
Here comes Sal with a snigger and a grin
Groundhog gravy all over her chin, poor groundhog.

Run fetch Sally with a ten foot pole
Run fetch Sally with a ten foot pole
Snatch that whistle pig outa his hole, poor groundhog.

Well, you eat up the meat and save the hide
Eat up the meat and save the hide
Best darn shoestring that ever was tied, poor groundhog.
