Message for Chuck DeVore (Do what is right for your country)

Posted on 05/07/2010 10:51:05 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I am from Ohio so I don't really have a dog in this fight.

But over the last couple of days. The situation in California has divided the Republican Party nationally. There is a lot of in-fighting. A lot of people who are fighting. Sarah Palin is being attacked for no good reason.

I think the solution is simple. You are not going to win the nomination. Put out the fire, fold up the tent and support the best of the last remaining two candidates.

With you on the ballot, the only possible roll you have is spoiler. So please, for the sake of your country and conservatives...lets mend fences. We need to look forward to November.

With all of this in-fighting. We do not look like a team that is marching toward victory. that needs to change real fast. Our country is in trouble.

Your whole political world seems to revolve around Palin. Grow up or you are going to be greatly disappointed.

This is Palin’s party,

Our enemies within the party are elites in Washington D.C.

We have to gain access to leadership before we change the party.

this other stuff is backround noice at best and hurting our cause at worse.

I admit to being in the process of getting informed on this race, but this interview impressed me. Is there a reason to distrust Fiorina?

Two candidates battling it out in the California primary does not hurt the country or the conservative cause. You need to get a clue.

“I just think that conservatives shouldn’t turn on Sarah.”

IMHO, Sarah Palin doesn’t owe John McCain a damn thing... He owes her for the votes he got that he wouldn’t have otherwise. As for that lesbian whore Carly, sarha needs to pick her friends a little better... A little research on Palin’s part could have prevented this.

We don’t advance the cause at all by getting rid of one liberal and installing another in their place. It’s actually a step backwards.

You will know when the time comes and Palin would not even run for President.

Not that I like Carly either, but she isn’t the one who ruined HP, it was done before she got there.

I just think that conservatives shouldn’t turn on Sarah.

I think conservatives shouldn't "turn on" each other....aside from healthy debates. However, we must have a process where these battles are fought. Sarah Palin should be subject to the same scrutiny and criticism as all other "representatives" whether they occupy an office, speak for us or vie for our votes. Sarah Palin has her "warts" like any other fallible human being. Just because I like her, doesn't mean I think she is irreproachable.

Again, youu need to buy a clue. Palin has popularity which translates into political power within the party. There's nothing wrong with conservatives expecting her to represent their views and letting her know when she doesn't.

I don’t get the big deal on her.

She was a gender pick at HP and failed.

She is a PC NeoCon at best.

Now she is gender pick for Kali senate...

let them fight it out....I don’t see why Palin figured to jump the primary on this hunch

how much better are RINO senators?

Nonsense, but even if it were, so what?

She doesn't control who I vote for, and I think all this endorsement nonsense has gotten real stale.

No. There is no reason to distrust her. I have spoken with her several times. I will speak with her again next week. She is the real deal.

The reasons for opposing her that have been posted in this forum are specious and frequently taken out of context.

As an example, one person cited me to a speech she gave more than two years ago in support of McCain. In particular this poster was concerned about her favorable reference to McCain's support of cap and trade. For gosh sakes folks, since she was speaking in support of the man, she had to say something nice and, apart from his honorable war record, there's not much there. I know for a fact that she would vote against either Waxman-Markey or Kerry-Boxer.

Another poster cited me to the website for her foundation, claiming that it shows she is a "progressive." Not being familiar with the foundation, I followed his advice and investigated it. I urge you all to do the same. My conclusion was that the person who referred me to it does not know the definition of the term "progressive." The foundation supports, with its own money, not taxpayer money, microfinance in the developing world, women in the Muslim world, leadership training in Africa, and female entreprenuers. These are worthy causes for private charity. Her support of them with her own money does not mean she would vote in favor of the use of public dollars for those purposes.

At one of my meetings with her, I pointed out that we have a real problem with the Endangered Species Act. She promptly ordered up a position paper on it. Most Freepers would heartily agree with it.

There are reasons she has been endorsed by Sarah and by major pro-life organizations: she is a conservative and the conservative with the best chance to beat Campbell. DeVore has little money and very little chance of beating Campbell. However, if he wins, i will vote for him. A more likely result is that his false charges that Fiorina is not a conservative will divide the conservative base and lead to a primary win for Campbell.

Just an observation....
First Sarah was the shiny object that invited attack from the left... rabid vicious attack.
Now it seems that Sarah is being proffered as the “shiny object” for conservatives to attack.
Interesting.....
The left always wins by making us fight amongst ourselves. Reagan understood that.

In your world I guess you have to agree with everything your candidate does. I can support Sarah and also support Chuck DeVore. We fight for our conservatives in CA. They are an endangered species.

- ———
To start when asked about the stimulus, she said that the stimulus didn’t work because it wasn’t big enough. That’s a progressives answer.

Her initial reaction to the AZ illegal immigration law was that there seemed to be a racial component to it.

When asked who her favorite senators were she praised Diane Feinstein and John McCain.

Probably the best insight can be obtained from the people she managed at HP. Many seem to detest her and blame her for many of HPs problems. The fall campaign if she gets the nomination will be a series of HP based attacks on her leadership skills, decision making, and her methods of dealing with subordinates. They will label her as “Fired-CEO” and expect Boxer to do ads like “HP fired her, why should we hire her?” She will not be able to defend herself against so many accusers. DeVore can only be attacked on his voting record which they will say is too conservative for CA. He is very comfortable defending his voting record.

This is Palin’s party

Take some advice from some of the older and wiser members of this forum, friend, and believe me when I tell you that that this is not "Palin's Party."

Now, she has rightfully earned her status and respect up until this point, but she, like anyone else, can also squander it, and like any system of falsification, it can be squandered much faster than it can be earned.

Sarah would be well advised to dwell on some of the criticism, and make no mistake, even her approach to that will say something about her character.

The in-fighting in the Republican party gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Well stated. And courageous post. Maybe you'll have time to support Palin in 2012, she needs people like you with those attributes. Some people here believe just supporting conservative candidates, whatever the situation, is the way to get conservatives elected in the long run. I largely agree, though sometimes we just have to make exceptions. But everyone can disagree on that, none of us will always agree with everyone else. But you are right that a big risk going forward for conservatives is our propensity to eat out own. Viscously. Palin is the high profile target at the moment, but this sort of stuff is habit forming, and will continue. Its ridiculous and self-defeating. Save the fire for RINOs, the Republican Establishment and the Dims. Otherwise it'll be Romney ... or some other RINO in 2012.
