I'm not posting the picure here, and if anyone does, please post the link only, out of deference to the dignity of the child on the cover.
Comments?
Ouch.
I understand your point, but I don't think it's sad. It's on the cover. Even a media hermit like I am saw it, and it says everything you need to know about it. Also, the question that goes with it is very provocative. Perhaps it was in spite of everything they stand for, but the message got out anyway.
My God, what a message. I walked out of the store weeping and wept all the way home. I think it changed my life. It certainly galvanized (once again) everything good in me, including my instincts as a father and as a man. And I'm sure it has for lots and lots of other people. And this at a time when the president is looking to appease the left by yapping about withdrawal.
This cover is, to use a worn out buzzword, a "game changer." For starters, it makes every soldier a hero all over again, to anyone with a beating heart, regardless of his political persuasion.
I’m not angry at all and I’m not offened by the photo. I do however have a problem with the words to the right of the girl. It places a false responsibility on the US to ensure this never happens again. While this is an inhumane act, we are not responsible for other nations laws, religions, and actions.
Yes, I’ve seen it. And the ‘child’ as you called her, is 18, wouldn’t that make her an adult? Didn’t see a word here about why her nose and ears are missing, the Taliban is the reason.
It is. Its an attempt to lay a guilt trip on the American people to keep us engaged in this war. If everyone cries on the way home from the grocery store, this propaganda piece has won.
Wrong: The most ruthless and bloodthirsty are free to impose their interpertation of Islam on everyone else regardless of their convictions. Sort of like America when we elect Democrats.
Dar al-Hab or Dar al-Islam. Which do you prefer?
Exactly. A picture like this would have never appeared when Bush was president. Democrats were against the war back then. This is to support Obongo. I bet this magazine has never had a picture this scarey before. Imagine the furor if a conservative magazine had this cover 4 years ago. The liberals would be screaming PROPOGANDA!
It might have helped to say what was on the cover. A lot of us don’t read that rag, so I haven’t a clue what I’m supposed to be angry about.
I supposed (silly me) that your post would at least suggest what it was.
Oh well, another useless thread...
> Heaven ******** forbid you have to exert a modicum on
> initiative.
Perhaps I just don’t have as much time for such things as you.
More likely you're just inclined to bitch when other people don't spoonfeed you. After all, you managed to complain the first time and follow up afterwards. Googling might have taken you all of 1.5 seconds.
So long.
Perfect. It was designed to be useless to those who think "surfing" is "thinking".
What's good about the fact that all some people want to do is scan and bitch is that they never really will get in the way of people who are more engaged with reality.
Surf on, dude!
Thanks to those who bothered to pay attention. You're what make this site work.
Look, I wasn’t the only one that was asking for a link.
Most of the first posts were asking you what in the world you were talking about.
We are not mind-readers, and few, if any, of us are following all the very exact same stories as you are at exactly the same time.
