Exploding the “That Wasn’t A Missile” Myth

By Gargantua

What appeared to be a missile rose from below the horizon, streaking into the sky off of California leaving a condensation trail identical to the kind that have been filmed being left by a ground-or-sea-to-air launch of a Minuteman missile or ICBM.

First, the Government was inexplicably mum on the topic. Next came a series of sometimes contradictory explanations. Now, days after the event, the finally agreed-upon explanation hits every news station all at once. “It’s the con-trail of a jet returning from across the Pacific.”

There are two glaring problems with this obviously false “explanation.”

First, the shape and density of the con-trail.

A missile launch would be more dense and wide at its base, just as we see in the images we’ve been shown. A jet’s con-trail would be thinner and smaller the further away as it trailed off toward the horizon. We see the opposite in the availale video footage.

Second, the lighting.

In the video footage, we see stratus clouds out over the ocean behind the rising missile. The setting sun is shining on, and illuminating, the bottom of those clouds. On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge; just as it would if this were a launching missile’s vertically rising con-trail. There is no illumination of the underside of the “jet’s horizontally oriented con-trail” because it is not a jet’s con-trail, it is a vertically-oriented missile’s launch contrail with the sun lighting up the side away from us. Very obviously so.

The Government must think we are at least as stupid as they are if they think this lame explanation is going to “fly.”

The projection of the rocket is straight up compared to their bogus story of a plane already being at high altitude leaving some kind of contrail.

Government con job!....and a very bad one at that!...Any four year old can figure that out!

>>Not too many witnesses 35 miles out at sea, off the California coast.<<

Actually, yes there are. I’ve flown through that area. You’d be surprised how many large commercial and pleasure boats are owned and used by Californians.

Acutally, that’s a darned good idea. If I were not so unhinged myself, I’m sure I would have thought of it. ;)

What I find interesting in reading all of these posts is that: 1. We do not know what it is for sure, but it sure looks like a missile; The people responsible for monitoring this kind of stuff was silent for a long time (days), and 3. the number of people here at FR who do not have any more information than anyone else but can’t wait to accept the first explanation, regardless of how ludicrous it sounds, provided by a gov’t that nobody trusts and want to excoriate anybody who disagrees with that story.

The truth is that we do not know and probably never will know for certain. and we have some real *ssholes here at FR.

A four year old would figure it out, then when he was a little older, maybe 10, he’d learn about perspective, and he’d realize a horizontal line, that is coming directly toward you, will look vertical.

I wish I could share your certainty that China won’t take over the world using currency - Tibet would beg to differ with you.

Jughead is printing money, and is essentially ruining the economy - and then he’s shooting his mouth off over in India. I think this was a not-to-subtle to our Narcist in Chief to get back on his side of the tracks. The part that I fear far more, is that this particular Narcist is quite insane - and simply doesn’t care if Los Angeles were to be vaporized in a flash of light.

As long as he get’s to play King, and parade around as a self-made ‘God’; he’s quite content. Is there any other plausible reason for Jughead to take the number of warships and aircraft on vacation with him? Was he contemplating invading India? This was a tax-payer funded Ego-trip - pure and simple.

And during this Ego-trip - he shot his mouth off and told that India and the USA could work together to keep China under control. This probably didn’t sit very well with China. Couple that with the poor return they are expecting on their debt we owe, and the hyper-inflation that Jughead is toying with.

I think this was a subtle ‘hint’ to Jughead - but I also think they are drastically over-estimating his grasp on reality, he’s incapable of comprehending the implications of what China can do to us. Incapable, both on the emotional level, as well as the intellectual level. It’s just one of the drawbacks to being mentally ill.

I guess you see what you want to see. The bottom of the contrail is clearly in front of those clouds and in shadow. It also passes in front of both lines of clouds. The ones on the horizon and the one higher in the pic and therefore much closer.

OK. Sorry about that. I didn’t get the message to ignore before I responded. Now I will ask them to delete my other response.

"Seems to me that if they were hiding something, they could have simply said it was our launch."

Which is exactly what they should have done.

What this is, is obviously a missile. The only question is who launched it. If it was not one of ours then whose was it? Russian? Chinese? Who else has launch capabilities from an ocean going platform?

>>The problem is that they (gov’t) did not launch the missile. They do not want the sheeple to be scared so they just lie about it.<<

That is, frankly, kinda where I was going with this at first. Then I saw the video, and studied it.

There is no “there” there. It is an aircraft contrail. One of the cooler ones, frankly.

“On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge”....

Wouldn't an airplane contrail at 30k ft being composed entirely of water vapor and evenly distributed be evenly illuminated from a light source behind it? How could part of it be illuminated and part opaque?

“I just flew over that area of the ocean a few months ago. The number of boats out there is fairly impressive.

Your post reminds me of why one woman said Anita Hill was lying: Where are the other women? No man does this to just one woman.”

Just because there are lots of people with the potential to tape it doesn’t mean they all had cameras on them at the time and the inclination to do so. Nor does the fact that we’ve only seen one video mean there weren’t more taken. How long did it take to get that shot of the first plane to hit the World Trade Center? And that was a MUCH bigger deal.

In a way, they did. What would they say if it was just flight 808 returning to the mainland?

Fun website that I found earlier this year:

Live Ships Map

There are currently 103 ships in the area.

So just because we came to the same conclusion as the Gov’t it means we are willing to accept whatever they tell us?

Aren’t we allowed to objectively look at this and decide we agree with them in this case?

I know everyone wants to believe this is some great conspiracy, but really we are just wasting a lot of time on an optical illusion. Although it sure has been an education for me on the kinds of things people are willing to believe, despite a lot of rational evidence to the contrary.

But it remained in sight for ten minutes, according to the camera man. Would a missile launch remain in sight for ten minutes?
