The brother of the Muslim actress Afshan Azad, who played Padma Patil in the “Harry Potter” films, was sentenced to six months in prison Thursday for beating his sister after he heard her talking to her Hindu boyfriend.
Ashraf Azad, 28, called his sister a “prostitute” and screamed ''Marry a Muslim or you die!'' during a three-hour beating, during which, the actress said in a Manchester, England court, she feared for her life.
Afshan Azad, 21, was punched, strangled, and dragged by her hair by her brother, but she still pleaded for the judge’s leniency during the sentencing hearing, and asked he not be jailed.

You don't know much about Islam, do you? Do you know what a fatwa is, and what the thinking is that goes along with that?
It seems to me like you are more concerned with defending your use of the word "idiot" than you are about really thinking what this young lady is up against, and what we are all up against. Please reconsider your perspective, and I mean that genuinely. I pray for her, and I hope you will too.

Your post does not address this young woman’s situation. She didn’t live by the sword from what I can see, but it sure looks like she is going to die by Mohammed’s sword because through no fault of her own she was born into this situation.

When I returned to the U.S., I obtained insurance with State Farm. About a week later, my insurance agent informed me they would cancel my policy because I failed to report a ticket issued in my home city while I was in the overseas area. No. Her situation is not of my making. Yes, I can feel bad, but I divorce myself of responsibility.
