Two more photos, here with part of a person to get an idea of the size:

Note the characters visable in this view:

Some additional information:

... a few guys at NASA ... think it was from a Russian rocket that was sent up last weekend and that this may be a pressure tank that is attached to the fuel tank. NASA said they thought it was going down in/above L.A. ????? (Only a thousand miles off, give or take.)

The finder ... may get to keep it if Russia does not want it back, one of the guys at NASA stated we have a treaty with Russia, we return theirs and they return ours.

Anyone have anything constructive to offer in explanation?

It’s a drop tank from the shuttlecraft of the USS Enterprise. Obviously, Kirk was hot-dogging again.

I remember a coast guardsman who salvaged a round tank from shuttle Challenger disaster while on duty. He said it was a round, seamless tank. They never gave him any expltanaion, yet they placed a letterer in his medical records. Be careful. Nasty chemicals in liquid propelled rockets.

The old joke in Seattle used to be, don’t worry about Russia targeting us. If they did, what-ever-it-is would likely come down in Podunk, Idaho.

A few ideas...

It dented when it hit, that means its thin

It’s got an attachment point on one end, like for a pipe or a threaded rod

Its spherical

Ok, here’s my conclusion. It’s a float. Like in the back of your toilet, a ball on a rod. except this one is much bigger. A very large fuel tank float. I have no idea what it would be doing in an airplane. I wouldn’t think a plane would use an old fashioned float ball to determine fuel level. cars do but cars don’t roll and dive.

Thanks. I’ll pass that on to the finder and the deputy that loaded it into his truck.

It is obviously a pod. It is going to crack open, replicate his body, and replace him with a Pod Person. He will be the first of the Pod People. We have to warn humanity.

It's your basic 1C771 model sludgificator and is part of the holding tank system on many common alien intergalactic RVs. This apparently is the only planet where they are allowed to empty them. The aliens were scheduled to drop by and pick up Obama in 2012. Little early, I reckon.

However, with all the makeup our Magic Marxist Mulatto wears to cover those weird head and jaw scars, there may have been some transmission difficulties from his scull-mounted commo units.

Feel free to ask me any questions about this sort of thing. And never remove your foil cap, OK?
