The simple sandbag-and-barbed-wire technology, named Superadobe, is described in the book Emergency Sandbag Shelter and Eco-Village: How to Build Your Own With Superadobe/Earth-Bag, and in the DVD/Video series available for purchase and download in our online store.
The technology is designed to:
Use the materials of war (sandbags and barbed wire) to create a safe shelter in most regions of the globe as well as in your backyard. Utilize minimum amounts of purchased product and maximum amounts of the free earth under your feet. Participate in a family or community activity by building a shelter, or a sustainable community. Create a shelter with maximum protection against natural and man-made disasters

Preppers you many want to consider adding sand bags and barbed wire to you preps. I know I am!
Not something I want to be in during an earthquake.
It looks like the DICKER STACK-SACK method from the 1960s.
Sandbags are filled with dry concrete mix, dipped in water and stacked up. Then short leingths of re-bar are driven into them before they set up.
After it sets up, the whole thing is covered with gunnite to fill in the spaces.
There is a church near here that was built by this method back in the late 1960s.
Why would you hide in a little hand made cave instead of taking up arms, if things get bad?
If things go to hell, I can not imagine not putting one.s life, fortune, and sacred honor on the line to restore things.
According to Cal-Earth built correctly they are very seismicly stable.
Hand made cave? Ooooook......
But I like to make sure my family had shelter what ever the emergency.
I also hate to brust your ‘Mad Max’ fantasy but not every emergency requires the taking up of arms.
Thank you very much for the information. Keep up the great work!

Straw Bale Construction

The idea with the earth/sand bag construction is that it would be easy to store the basic supplies (Bags, barbed wire) and the earth or sand is available everywhere. Straw bails aren’t as readily available. Also in some emergencies, nuclear for example I want as much mass as possible. In many cases I would prefer my family be behind a sand bag wall instead of a bail of straw.
Take a look at using Hesco barriers. Much bigger adn stronger than sandbags.

What is its survivablility versus big bad wolves?
Size is the problem with Hesco barriers how would you lift on up for the second row? And setting on up and then handing up the sand/earth would be a lot of work. With the earth bag construction women or kids could fill the bags and men could carry and stack them.
I like Wofati which uses logs, earth, and plastic sheeting. This guy’s website has great info on many subjects:
