This is just, of course, a prediction on my part but here's why:
1. As a former governor, he has executive experience and, from what I understand, he was a pretty good governor. After 4 years of Obozo's incompetence, the American people are longing for a competent administrator.
2. Unlike Romney, who still refuses to disavow Romneycare, Pawlenty came out of the gate admitting he was wrong on Cap and Trade. That was a smart move, and it takes takes that monkey off his back. And two other competing governors, Daniels and Huck, are out of the race.
3. Unlike Palin and Newt, Pawlenty has an uncontroversial past (as far as I know) and doesn't appear to have any significant issues from his past that the rabid lame-stream media could use against him.
4. He's not AS conservative as many of us would like but, on the other hand, he won't have any problems getting the Independent voters and as we all know, without them, we can't win.
It would be better for us if he’d change his name to “Bob Dole”.
The results will be the same — four more year of Clint... er, sorry, 0Bama — but at least people could pronounce and spell the loser’s name. And we could get some more use out of those old buttons, bumper stickers, and tee shirts.
In an election where we need an attack dog, are we really going to settle for a milquetoast like Pawlenty?
Four reasons your prediction is wrong:
1. T-Paw, just like Obama, is a career lawyer/politician
2. The cap-and trade reversal was not as smart as coming out in favor of cap-and-trade was dumb
3. See 1 and 2 above
4. This assumes the independent voters have no problem with voting for wishy-washy flip-floppers that generate as much excitement as watching grass grow.
So the crap and tax greenie from whacked-out Minnesota will be the last RINO standing? Fine! Let the RINOs choose him. Conservatives don't need to have any part of him. I'm tired of RINOs pushing their favorites. We have our conservatives to support. We should be using our time and effort helping them get exposure not helping RINOs.
I like Tim Pawlenty a lot except for his stumble into Cap and Tax. As a governor, he has more executive experience than Barry ever did coming into office. He doesn’t have baggage like Newt (multiple divorces and affairs with subsequent wives while married to current wives as well as his misguided opinions on Paul Ryan’s budget plans), Romney (what more can you say than RomneyCare which is what 0bamaCare is modeled after and his devotion to it). I believe Governor Palin has much more charisma than Tim, is just as conservative and is better known. Pawlenty will have a long road to get all the fundraising necessary to combat Soros and all the foreign money chasing 0bama.
Good luck to whoever opposed 0bama in 2012 as Barry needs to be defeated.

Palin is now more powerful out of office than she was Governor.
Quitting was the best thing that has ever happened to her and the conservative movement.
He is not for cap and tax anymore. He has been upfront about the mistake from the get go. I don’t have any reason to think he will sign a cap and tax bill into law at this point. He isn’t my first choice at this point, but I would consider him “acceptable” and would gladly vote for him on the ballot with Zero. Other than environmental issues, he has pretty much been down the line conservative. The one issue where he was squishy he has come around on. His record is better than most. I don’t know much about him other than what I have read, but my friends in Minnesota have indicated he did a good job as governor. I am open to all arguements for and against Pawlenty as the vetting process moves forward. Simply calling him a RINO, which I have seen on here more than a few times, isn’t an argument.

You're correct. You should give your time and effort to who you support. Is there anything wrong with others doing the same thing for candidates they support?
Try to picture TPaw in a debate with Oblahblah. A snooze fest that Bumbles will win. We need a candidate who will really take it to Barry and in no uncertain terms. Pawlenty will never do that.
But of course. He has a conservative base to pander to, and what better way to denounce it, almost magically. Like Romney's unicorn conversion to being pro-life.
I'm sure, however, that Pawlenty supports some type of "free market" or "conservative" version of cap-and-trade, like all Republicans do when they don't have the guts to kill statist policies outright.
If the field remains as it is now, yes, TPaw has a road to the nomination.
At this point he’d probably end up a 1st Tier opposition to Romney, and if no one else emerges might be a reasonable choice. Still, he’s awfully dull. Would be nice to have someone who could bring a little more intensity and excitement. Also having been for Cap and Tax is a big negative. At least he completely disavowed that position, but the stink still remains.
I think we really have to wait to see with Palin does. If she enters the race I think she’d beat either TPaw or Romney. I know I’d support her. If she doesn’t enter the race then we’d have to see if maybe Bachmann could be a competitive anti-establishment candidate. I would be happy to support her as well though a lot of people seem to dismiss her.
Other than that, who else is there that has a serious chance? Gingrich blew up his campaign (probably little to no chance anyway). People like Paul and Johnson are joke candidates. Santorum really doesn’t seem like a good presidential candidate. Cain is okay, but has never been elected to anything and has no serious chance in my opinion (and performed particularly badly out of the gate with Chris Wallace on Sunday). Looking at the field right now, you’d have to say TPaw really does have a good opportunity barring scandals or uber serious gaffes.
Sarah knows how to beat the state run media at their own game? Come on man, most people in this country hate her and her numbers are as bad a Bush’s ever were.
I personally like Palin and I hope she runs, but she is going to have to completely reinvent herself if she is going to have a chance. I hope she can find a way to pull it off, but take off the rose colored glasses. If the election were held today between Zero and Palin, Palin just might carry Alaska and Utah.
We can't win without the independent vote? I don't agree.
