I don't know WHO that guy was/is who sang the national anthem to kick off the game at Chicago stadium, but he SANG (not performed) in the most onwderful way. The crowd was roaring and cheering at his rendition and broke into a great USA USA USA chant ... but Fox broke away to a commercial.
Wish I could been there.
GREAT day.
I don't even care if the Falcons win. Chicago deserves it for picking THAT GUY to sing, and letting him sing it that way.
WOW!!!

It was most excellent. A very good opening.

Was it this guy? Jim Cornelison. If so, he does the Blackhawks’ games, too.

Yeah it was Jim Cornelison.
Coulda been. Finished on the same sorta high note.
Friggin amazing.
No fly over though.
He looks a bit older now. (if it’s the same guy)
That figures, commie b@st@ards.
That was really something, wasn’t it! Loved it!
THAT is EXACTLY how the anthem should be SUNG, not “performed”.
Kudos to Chicago and their fans.
I live in the ATL area and I guaranteed we’d never get to see that in the Ga Dome. Too politically and ehnically correct here.
I don’t know who the sailor was who sang before the Eagles/Rams game on fox but he had a great command snd voice. Fox blew it on the sound because they seemed to be mic’ing the stadium PA system but the performance was wonderful.
It wasn’t Pallazzo.
From the live-blog on http://www.chicagobears.com/
“12:06 PM - The 9/11 commemoration before today’s game included actor Robert DeNiro delivering a message and taps being played live in Shanksville, Pa., where one of the hijacked planes crashed during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. In addition, there was 60 seconds of silence, Jim Cornelison sang the National Anthem, and American flag covering the entire field was held by Bears players and coaches as well as Chicago area policemen and firemen who traveled to New York and Washington D.C. to lend a hand following the attacks.”
He replaced Wayne Messmer who was shot in the throat by thugs in front of a restaurant.
Maybe the best anthem I have ever heard:

That unrolling of the massive American flag was quite impressive, too. When I heard that strong voice come on for the National Anthem, I knew it was going to be a meaningful rendition — sticking to the right notes and singing it for all its worth. And the crowd felt it, too!
I just wish that all those wishy-washy singers, who usually sing, would get a clue.
Yeah. That was beautiful.
I still hope the Bears lose, today and every day.
