Oh Wow...I became a monthly donor last week. Does that count?
To: Redleg Duke
We have friends with yard chickens. One of their hens lays super jumbo 4.5oz eggs. We call them the ‘Ow!’ eggs. Wish we knew which supermama chicken was laying those!

Thank you for doing that. I’m a monthly donor plus, I’ve given a little extra this FReepathon. I wish I could do more.

They’re good for potassium and various minerals. Not sure how they affect pH. Have read that beans don’t like high concentrations of ash.

I found this while looking around the web:
Composting ashes is an ideal way to put them to use in the garden. Fireplace ashes for compost can be used to help maintain the neutral condition of the compost. It can also add nutrients to the soil. Decomposing materials in the compost pile can become somewhat acidic and wood ash can help offset this as its more alkaline in nature.
Like tubebender indicated, I think that I will limit the ash I add to the compost, because we produce a lot of ash over the winter. I'll scatter the rest.

Thank you so much for being a monthly donor. My monthly is done by Paypal every month, and I don’t even miss it. Well worth the enjoyment I get from sharing my gardening on the weekly thread.

I used small amounts of ashes in our compost piles when we heated with wood until we sold our wood lot. Firewood is almost $300 a cord here with the logging restrictions on Forest Service (citizens) land.

Glad could do it Jim. Wish we could get enough monthly donors so you wouldnt have to go through the angst each quarter. Would rather you be able to concentrate on something else.
To: Jim Robinson; JustaDumbBlonde
Yeehaw! Buuuuuump for the next New Monthly Donor!
To: left that other site
If you signed up on the donations page, you were counted at that time. Thank you very much!

Too late; I went monthly just after the current FReepathon started.
