Read Aldous Huxleys review of 1984 he sent to George Orwell
Several months after George Orwell's dystopian classic 1984 was published in 1949, Aldous Huxley sent a letter to his former French pupil. The Brave New World author had received a copy of 1984 from the publisher at Orwell's behest, but his poor eyesight prevented him from finishing the book for several months.
In his letter to Orwell, the fifty-year-old author compared the two books' screwed-up futures and saw the Orwellian Oceanic dystopia as a predecessor to his own World State. Wrote Huxley in October 1949:
Agreeing with all that the critics have written of it, I need not tell you, yet once more, how fine and how profoundly important the book is. May I speak instead of the thing with which the book deals - the ultimate revolution? The first hints of a philosophy of the ultimate revolution - the revolution which lies beyond politics and economics, and which aims at total subversion of the individual's psychology and physiology - are to be found in the Marquis de Sade, who regarded himself as the continuator, the consummator, of Robespierre and Babeuf. The philosophy of the ruling minority in Nineteen Eighty-Four is a sadism which has been carried to its logical conclusion by going beyond sex and denying it. Whether in actual fact the policy of the boot-on-the-face can go on indefinitely seems doubtful. My own belief is that the ruling oligarchy will find less arduous and wasteful ways of governing and of satisfying its lust for power, and these ways will resemble those which I described in Brave New World. I have had occasion recently to look into the history of animal magnetism and hypnotism, and have been greatly struck by the way in which, for a hundred and fifty years, the world has refused to take serious cognizance of the discoveries of Mesner, Braid, Esdaile, and the rest.
Partly because of the prevailing materialism and partly because of prevailing respectability, nineteenth-century philosophers and men of science were not willing to investigate the odder facts of psychology for practical men, such as politicians, soldiers and policemen, to apply in the field of government. Thanks to the voluntary ignorance of our fathers, the advent of the ultimate revolution was delayed for five or six generations. Another lucky accident was Freud's inability to hypnotize successfully and his consequent disparagement of hypnotism. This delayed the general application of hypnotism to psychiatry for at least forty years. But now psycho-analysis is being combined with hypnosis; and hypnosis has been made easy and indefinitely extensible through the use of barbiturates, which induce a hypnoid and suggestible state in even the most recalcitrant subjects.
Within the next generation I believe that the world's rulers will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging and kicking them into obedience. In other words, I feel that the nightmare of Nineteen Eighty-Four is destined to modulate into the nightmare of a world having more resemblance to that which I imagined in Brave New World. The change will be brought about as a result of a felt need for increased efficiency. Meanwhile, of course, there may be a large scale biological and atomic war - in which case we shall have nightmares of other and scarcely imaginable kinds.
Truly the cheerful correspondance. Who needs a game of Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy to raise their spirits?
Dear Mr. Orwell,
It was very kind of you to tell your publishers to send me a copy of your book. It arrived as I was in the midst of a piece of work that required much reading and consulting of references; and since poor sight makes it necessary for me to ration my reading, I had to wait a long time before being able to embark on Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Thank you once again for the book.

Aldous Huxley

I agree with some . . . ignorantly forbidden . . . commentators . . .
Iran will be struck
WW3 will ensue in short order . . .
whether in weeks or months . . . sooner than any want.
Not only is evil advanced by failure for the good to speak up . . .
Evil is also advanced by those who hide, forbid, the truth . . . pretend that the truth is not true . . . pretend that the truth is merely kooky theory etc.
Some good, mostly loveable conservatives are going to have lots of blood on their hands before the dust settles because they censored the uncomfortable truth.

Huxley was right on the money

Sorry, A-G—just a video, I think. I didn’t check the comments section for transcript yet, though

A worthy video . . . some history of how we got where we are with our satanic hedonistic globalist culture
They were modern day prophets delivering their predictions in novel format!
The "Brave New World" of "1984" is here now in Amerika!

Welcome to the Obamanation!
” new world order we now see, this long dreamed-of vision we’ve all worked toward for so long.” President George Bush (January 1991)
2. “The world can therefore seize the opportunity [Persian Gulf crisis] to fulfill the long-held promise of a New World Order where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind.”
George Herbert Walker Bush
Global Socialism knows no political party.....and Jorge, there IS no “universal aspiration of mankind” you hopeless twit!!
Huxley saw that they would encourage sexual immorality as a sort of bread and circuses distraction and they have.
I don’t think they were spiritually prophetic.
I think they just knew folks like these:
http://twoday.net/static/omega/files/quotes_from_people_who_consider_us_subjects.htm
Who even back then had long been working hard to bring about such social, political, economic, religious changes right in step with the Biblical predictions.
An interesting question. I just bet it was from their family relationships that they knew what was being planned and brought into being.
I would like to frame your post. You nailed it in just a couple of paragraphs.
INDEED.
INDEED.
What do y’all think are the main reasons that
CONSERVATIVES . . . mostly Christians . . .
usually skeptical of the MSM
Sooooo faithfully on FR, believe the MSM about key elements of such goings on?
Mystifies me.
___Is it pride?
___Locked to firmly into their biases?
___Gross entrenched cluelessness?
___Gross entrenched ignorance?
___Gross entrenched stubborn ‘know-it-all’ bullheadedness?
___Fantasies and wishful thinking?
___Gross denial?
What?
Hollywood Producer of the movie T... P.... (dare not even list the movie) knew the score from an elite friend. Yet, I dare not even post a link to his insider info here. Sad.
The Republic is being shredded in the wood chipper as quickly as OThuga and his elite bosses can crash it around all our ears . . . and Conservatives can’t even tell the truth to each other? Mystifying.

It is INDEED mystifying.

Obama must have read it too......
I will read Yuri
This is an excellent letter. It is full of interesting observations about both Huxley's and Orwell's books. I have recently reread 1984. The plot is seems much more simplistic than I noticed before but the insights were remarkably astute. It helps to understand the Democrat Party in the Age of Obama.
Also interesting are Huxley's observation that the power hungry totalitarians were more flexible and innovative than Orwell thought.
Orwell based his observations on his relationships with members of the British Communist Party and British socialists who sponsored his writing career and arranged for his passage to Spain to participate in the Spanish Civil War. Huxley for saw a larger conspiracy.
Orwell saw they wanted to control the country and deprive citizens of their possessions, their freedom and their very souls. Huxley also saw they wanted to destroy men's souls but that their tactics would evolve.
They were both extremely insightful and prescient. Their work accurately predicted politics in America today.
“
Herbert London refutes White’s proposition by observing, “...if history is largely invention, who can say with authority that the American Revolution came before the French Revolution?” He observes that evidence has takmen a back seat to inventiveness. He thus cuts right to the chase — the inventions of postmodernism, which are cutting successive generations of Americans off from their culture and their history, evolved directly from the ‘cultural Marxist’ scholars of the Frankfurt School.
How did this situation come about in America’s universities? Gertrude Himmelfarb has observed [14] that it slipped past those traditional academics almost unobserved until it was too late. It occurred so ‘quietly’ that when they ‘looked up,’ postmodernism was upon them with a vengeance. “They were surrounded by a tidal wave of faddish multicultural subjects such as radical feminism, deconstructed relativism as history and other courses” which undermine the perpetuation of Western Civilization. “
There you are. I was in college in the early to mid 1970’s,
and I saw the transformation first hand. It was ugly then, now it is lost.
Thanks.
I’d come across him somewhere along the way but never read much. Thanks for the links.
Plenty true.
It’s just so dishearteningly mystifying to see it soooo
true even with Conservative Christians on FR.
Thanks for your kind reply.

Lindsey WilliamsChaplain of Northslope. My friends who work on the Northslope insist Chaplain Williams is quite accurate about the oil facts. His timing of future events has been off from what the Globalists told him but usually not enormously off.
The beginning od the downfall of America was the late 1960’s. All the virtuous, and traditional things we held dear were trashed.
The liberals in my jr. HS immediately picked up the leftist ball, and ran with it(1967-69). In senior HS, it grew “progressively” worse. By the time I graduated in 1972, the transition to leftism was almost complete.
From 1972-1976, I watched most of the young professors move decidedly to the left. By the late 1970’s those young leftist professors became “tenured radicals”. They eventually moved up in rank and power, and most often hired only their own......conservatives need not apply. By the mid 1980’s, the left had complete control of most universities. The “dumbing down” of America was at full throttle. Now in 2012, it is a near hopeless cause,as we have NO leadership on our side.
For those who are, in PC parlance bandwidth challenged, here’s Iserbyt’s web site:

FR conservatives, these days I’m using the word hesitantly, generally receive all of their news and entertainment from the MSM. Therefore they are being fed misinformation and disinformation 24/7.
The debates on FR are always attempting to determine which category of these two the news article under discussion should be filed under. I laugh when people get angry at each other over such foolishness. Manure is still manure unless you are selling it then it becomes high grade fertilizer.
Self reliance is a new character trait that’s being worn by many people. It feels quite uncomfortable to say the least. This is a new lifestyle for many. They are continually glancing back to see what the crowd is doing, hoping they are in step. The closest similarity is unfortunately still a herd of sheep.
The change to becoming a sheep dog is a quite struggle. It requires casting aside many old beliefs and having to think for yourself. The once impossible thought such as brushing aside the media drivel about “death by natural causes” is then is replaced with the word “assassination” is a definite possibility, sometimes even a clear probability which goes 180 degrees against the grain of sheep thought patterns. Stepping outside the boundaries of four or five decades of social engineering is not an easy task because there are so many tentacles constantly attempting to pull you back into formation.
Critical thinking is another new sport for a healthy percentage. Unfortunately, sheep cannot do it. The worst thing for many is to be called a conspiracy freak by their ‘faceless internet friends’. “No, I am not a birther” was a cry heard frequently on FR. Yet Sheriff Arpaio has said that there is a 100% certainty the the Acting President’s LFBC is a fake. The moderators on FR wish the issue would fade away. They were hoping that removing the Breaking News sidebar would do the trick. Nope, like psoriasis it will keep showing up until the cause of the bacteria is discovered and removed.
It is worthy to note that that course is no longer required now that the left is in charge.
“Natural causes”.......I posted elsewhere on FR “ In a world that operates pretty much at random, coincidences are to be suspected, not ignored.”
As for Arpaio, I watched for 1 1/2 hours, while his crew proved, step by step, that the Birth Certificate was a computer manufactured FRAUD. Same with the SS card.Almost nobody covered it.

The first section of quotes below is from my usual link.
Below that is another link and some newer-to-FR quotes . . . including, I hope, soon, a Bertrand Russell quote I’ve been looking for again . . . about mass psychology etc.
Didn’t yet find the Bertrand Russell quote. Basically, he said that mass psychology would manipulate the sheeple into doing what the controllers wanted fairly painlessly. The sheeple have proven him too right.

1928: H.G. Wells authored The Open Conspiracy: Blue Prints for a World Revolution. By then he had broken with the Fabians, not in terms of their goals, but only in believing that they should be open about their plan to synthesize western capitalism with eastern communism, and create a world socialist government. In a later book titled The New World Order, Wells said that many would die protesting against it.[26] In the same year as The Open Conspiracy was published, H.G. Wells received a letter from Bertrand Russell congratulating him, and saying:
“(Lord R.B.) Haldane (FS) would not forego the pleasure to be derived from the next war.”[27]
Bertrand Russell would later write that a “Black Death” or bacteriological warfare might be needed to cull the population.[28] Wells had already written that ‘they would have a cause that “would make killing worth the while.”[29]
In his book, A New Deal, future New Deal Resettlement Administration and UNESCO, consultant Stuart Chase wrote: “A better economic order is worth a little bloodshed.” Stuart Chase advocated joining H.G. Wells’ “Open Conspiracy.”[30]
1928: John Dewey wrote an article for the December 5 issue of The New Republic magazine in which he noted that the Bolsheviks were engaged in:
“’...a most interesting sociological experiment,’ ... and using progressive educational ideas and practices to ‘...counteract and transform... the influence of home and Church.’”[31]
The following year, in his book, Individualism, Old and New, Dewey predicted: “We are in for some kind of socialism, call it by whatever name we please.”[32]
1928: When William Paley (CFR) was beginning CBS, his chief advisor was Sigmund Freud’s nephew, Edward Bernays, who authored the book, Propaganda, in which he revealed:
“Those who manipulate the organized habits and opinions of the masses constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of the country.”[34]
1933: On April 11, Max Mason, president of the Rockefeller Foundation, assured his trustees that in their program:
“The Social Sciences will concern themselves with the rationalization of social control , ... the control of human behavior.”[35]
Four years later, the foundation gave a grant to Princeton University to study the influence of radio on different groups, and Rockefeller’s General Education Board funded a study of CBS’s 1938 broadcast of War of the Worlds, which was written up later as a ‘study in the psychology of panic.’”[36]

Apparently it was too much for some FReepers (no names needed) to bear.
I knew Obama and his history was fraudulent, when that unspeakably phony “original” BC was foating around. Now anyone who watched that presentation on ABC TV,CH 15 Phoenix,KNOWS that Obama is a total FRAUD, and almost certainly was born elsewhere.
I have had occasion recently to look into the history of animal magnetism and hypnotism, and have been greatly struck by the way in which, for a hundred and fifty years, the world has refused to take serious cognizance of the discoveries of Mesner, Braid, Esdaile, and the rest.Denial of those discoveries is one of the foundation stones of the skepticultist movement.
Nineteen Eighty-FourOn a scarlet-draped platform an orator of the Inner Party, a small lean man with disproportionately long arms and a large bald skull over which a few lank locks straggled, was haranguing the crowd. A little Rumpelstiltskin figure, contorted with hatred, he gripped the neck of the microphone with one hand while the other, enormous at the end of a bony arm, clawed the air menacingly above his head. His voice, made metallic by the amplifiers, boomed forth an endless catalogue of atrocities, massacres, deportations, lootings, rapings, torture of prisoners, bombing of civilians, lying propaganda, unjust aggressions, broken treaties. It was almost impossible to listen to him without being first convinced and then maddened. At every few moments the fury of the crowd boiled over and the voice of the speaker was drowned by a wild beast-like roaring that rose uncontrollably from thousands of throats. The most savage yells of all came from the schoolchildren. The speech had been proceeding for perhaps twenty minutes when a messenger hurried on to the platform and a scrap of paper was slipped into the speaker's hand. He unrolled and read it without pausing in his speech. Nothing altered in his voice or manner, or in the content of what he was saying, but suddenly the names were different. Without words said, a wave of understanding rippled through the crowd. Oceania was at war with Eastasia! The next moment there was a tremendous commotion. The banners and posters with which the square was decorated were all wrong! Quite half of them had the wrong faces on them. It was sabotage ! The agents of Goldstein had been at work ! There was a riotous interlude while posters were ripped from the walls, banners torn to shreds and trampled underfoot. The Spies performed prodigies of activity in clambering over the rooftops and cutting the streamers that fluttered from the chimneys. But within two or three minutes it was all over. The orator, still gripping the neck of the microphone, his shoulders hunched forward, his free hand clawing at the air, had gone straight on with his speech. One minute more, and the feral roars of rage were again bursting from the crowd. The Hate continued exactly as before, except that the target had been changed.
by George Orwell
(from chapter 17)
The thing that impressed Winston in looking back was that the speaker had switched from one line to the other actually in midsentence, not only without a pause, but without even breaking the syntax... Oceania was at war with Eastasia : Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia. A large part of the political literature of five years was now completely obsolete.
Thanks for the post. This has turned out to be an extremely interesting thread.
I hate everything in the world.
Sometimes one wonders . . .
Are some conservatives seriously interested in their own welfare and the welfare of the Republic . . .
or just interested in sitting in a circle and . . . (mentally or otherwise) . . .
Or maybe pretending their heart rates are slightly increasing over relatively inconsequential froth as though it were something significant.
Or maybe fantasizing and the like that an extra phone call or two here; a vote or two there . . . will be sufficient to allow them to go back to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ or other chaff of ‘eternal’ [eternally daming] import.
Or maybe they are chronically lost in the delusion that nothing greatly is going to significantly alter our lives . . . OThuga will pass sooner or later . . . WW3 will be averted yet again vs set up, planned and lit off; fallen angels don’t exist or will leave us alone; globalism can’t be as bad as kooks like Quix claim; the one world religion is a myth or won’t involve the Pope; food, circuses and TV will always be available; yadda yadda yadda;
I still pray that may God have mercy on such willful ignorance. Sometimes, more and more frequently . . . I wonder if mercy is warranted.
This wonderful narrative of a true Heavenly experience might well encourage you:
I just reread Colton’s assertions recently. Was just as encouraging the 2nd time.
Very Biblical and practical . . . and congruent with other quality narratives I’ve read.
LUB BRO. Keep the faith. Nothing else is WORTH keeping.
” I am in awe at Arpaio’s bravery.”
His biography is well worth a read. Arpaio has been a fearless warrior all of his life.
