A better mouse catcher
A vanity post, one of very few I have ever made. | Mar 31, 2012 | bobalu

Posted on 03/31/2012 1:04:17 PM PDT by Bobalu

My friend out in New Mexico set up an automatic game camera aimed at his water pans he puts out for birds. This is a snap he got last night of a Bobcat carrying a hapless mouse...it's very cute :-)

I wish Bobcats could be tamed, what wonderful pets they could be.

I think that varmint is a rat, not a mouse....?

An F4 offspring of that bobcat and a big healthy red male Maine Coon would be an interesting mix.

Pretty big for a mouse.

I’m thinking rat here.

My husband cats pictures of Bobcats with his game cameras about an hour south of Houston. They are really beautiful animals.

I HATE mice - have several traps in my basement and outside my home, but, I kinda feel sorry for the little critter in this pic. It’s like he’s pleading to the camera.

Thanks for posting. We have a pixie-bob cat named Clawdia (inside cat) and we have bobcats outside (neighbors have seen them here).

Bobcats raised as kittens by humans can be tamed but even then are not considered domesticated like house cats. Even at best, tame bobcats are high maintenance, requiring much time, expense, effort, and adaptation. They are also said to be mercurial and cane be aggressive at times — and are big and strong enough to get their way when they want to.

Great pic...pound for pound, however, stoats and ferrets are the best rodent control. They can follow a rat or mouse (or squirrel or rabbit for that matter) into places no feline can go, and when they catch them, they can deal out an a$$-whoopin' far out of proportion to their size...

Stoat vs. Rat
