.10 cents per mile would add almost an $3,000 additional taxes for me to pay.

I’d have to quit my job if this became a reality in my life. I couldn’t afford to drive.

When Obama is elected to his second term, schemes like this will go national.

And it will happen very fast.

Without congressional approval.

By executive fiat from one of the executive agencies.

What we really need is a law requiring all local, state and federal legislators to wear webcam/microphones wired to the Interwebs 24/7 so we can monitor them and make sure they are not selling their influence or engaging in other criminal activity.

If we can save just one life, it will be worth it.

The commies don’t want the bourgeoisie (middle class) to own cars.

The ultimate in personal freedom is to be able to go where ever you want whenever you want.

The car does that.

To the commie, that makes the car bad.

They want all of us to be proletariat (peons, peasants, serfs), living in the cities, taking “public” transportation, watching state-run propaganda television, being forced to attend state produced propaganda movies, listening to state-approved music, and having our lives micro-managed by the commissariat, while the politburo (politically correct elite) live large.

Just like North Korea.

“.10 cents per mile would add almost an $3,000 additional taxes for me to pay.”

Don’t be so positive about it. You’ll only pay 10 cents per mile if you drive WHERE they tell you and WHEN they tell you. Otherwise you’re looking at an easy $1.00 per mile, as is now happening on State Highway 91 in California.

If California does it, Nevada will soon follow. I have a 1966 toyota landcruise, of which I have no idea how many miles are on it as the odometer and speedometer have been inoperable since I rescued it from Chicago in 1999. I will never allow GPS tracking in it, as it will just show the government what two tracks to close. But even if I was coerced, why should I pay per mile? 90% of the miles I put on it per year, are far from pavement, and for that matter, far from gravel.

I noticed that they aren’t interested in asking the potential taxpayers what they think of the idea of additional taxes for driving their vehicles.

Bay Area drivers could one day be tracked using a GPS-like device in their cars and taxed per miles driven – a scenario which is part of a proposed long-range study aimed at finding ways to reduce traffic and pollution, while also raising revenues.

They can't come out and just call it an exit tax?

How long are productive individuals going to put up with CA?

I was just thinking of the enormous cost this would be to all the delivery services.
Companies would put their mileage cost upon the taxpayers, costing us far more the .10 cents per mile we would pay, whether it be for groceries, fuel, shipping, deliveries, you name it. Everything moves on the nation’s highways.

Brilliant!

ain’t nothing like a bunch of blood-sucking unelected green-infested socialist officials when it comes up to raking folk over the coals.

We could do Russia real good with ‘leadership and ideas’ like this.

Look at the bright side. Someone could spoof Nancy Pelosi’s GPS signal and rack up 20,000 miles a year for her.
