Yep, that’s what I want!
But I like my Kahr 9mm, too.
Few questions that need answers:
1. Do you intend to clean and maintain your weapon well? Or will it live at the bottom of a purse?
2. Is it for carry?
3. How concealable do you need it?
4. Are you worried a little kid might get it?
5. How would you carry it?
6. Are you worried about recoil?
I just got a Taurus Judge. It’s a revolver that fires 410 shotgun rounds. It’s my first firearm, and I’m servous about semi-automatics. A revolver is a simpler device, and shotgun rounds are less likely to miss, and less likely to pass through someone and hit someone else than anything buyt hollow point, from the info that I’ve been able to gather.
I got some advice from people who preferred other weapons. I’m taking it to the range this weekend. We’ll see.
I’ve shot this weapon. Personally it is not for me. I think you will really like the glock. Look around. You can find some reasonably priced. You may even find some that have been through a police armory. I bet you could find one for $400 to $450. Remember...like all things...prices are negotiable. Don’t be scared of a used glock or sig. They are much more reliable than any other weapon I have encountered.
Taurus does have a lifetime transferable warranty.
A .40 is “alright” but s .45 ACP is MUCH BETTER! The only thing is .40 is CHEAPER to shoot than a .45. Remember “friends do not let friends buy 9 Mils”!

WARNING: OPINIONS FOLLOW.
Look at total cost of ownership, i.e. include cost of ammo.
S&W Bodyguard - 38: low recoil, no ejection/feeding malfunctions, and you can keep it in a jacket pocket and it will fire w/o catching on anything, cheap ammo.
FN Five-Seven: Very controllable recoil, very accurate, devastating round, expensive.
Springfield XD: 9mm +P, good all around, “lawman” ammo will take down anyone, cheap ammo.
.38, .40, .45 and 9mm - SOOOOooooo last century. .17HMR and Five-Seven - high speed, light round, devastating delivery of energy.
Taurus are good guns. If there is a problem, they have about the best customer service of anyone.
Around 6 months ago, I bought a new Smith & Wesson 22A. I fired it several times with no problem then on about the 5th shot, it jammed.
I got to looking at it and to my amazement, there was no extractor. I live in a rural area and was shooting from the roof of my car. The whole area is concrete and anything like an extractor lying on it would have been evident.
I am certain the gun was made without an extractor tho there was a cut in the slide for it. I returned it to Smith as instructed and in a short time, got it back repaired. It now is both accurate and reliable.
Do I now thing S&W makes crappy products? No I don’t tho it did bother me a bit that it got by quality control. Funny that it shot several times without an extractor. I used to have a Beretta Minx in .22 short which was designed without an extractor. It depended on the little short case to be a piston to push back the slide. The barrel popped up to take a round out of the chamber or to chamber one without operating the slide.
I think you will be happy with the Taurus.
Yeah...I know.....but, have you ever seen the commercial for Honda? Starts out with a couple in another lot across the street.....saleslady says “Best Warranty in the entire business - bumper to bumper.” Customers say “What about quality and satisfaction?”
The complaint is that I should not have had a mag drop on a brand new gun that was not a Saturday Night Special. There is no excuse for it. I have never had this happen with any other weapon I own, and there are plenty of them.
Dad has one, but I'm in CA and they're illegal here or I'd have one in a NY minute.

Just some friendly advice from someone who has seen this. Especially if your judge shoots 45 LC. If the weapon is very light weight, the type of ammo you use is important.
In my Governor (S&W) for instance which has a Scandium frame and steel insert barrel and steel cylinder, they caution to try a test run for 45 LC.
Load the ammo, shoot 5 rounds and examine the 6th. If the shell appears to have slug retention separation, choose different ammo. This wasn’t as easy as it sounds. I had some WM Winchester generic 45LC that did this, even some premium Hornady FTX 225Gr ammo....I finally asked Hornady...they finally told me the 185 FTX Personal Protection ammo would not unseat. They were correct.

See if you can try out some different weapons and see what you are most comfortable with. I have been using the 4th gen Glock 23 .40 and I am very happy with it. It has a smoother recoil than the 3rd gen and has a slightly smaller grip, so my wife is comfortable with it too. It’ll be out of the price range you mentioned, but I’ve seen 3rd gen 23’s in your price range.
