11 Amazing Facts about the McDonald's McRib (Reader Reactions Are HILARIOUS!)
Business Insider via Yahoo!Finance ^ | December 17, 2012 | Dina Spector and Kim Bhasin

The McDonald's McRib is back, hitting restaurants nationwide today. The legendary boneless pork sandwich, famously molded to resemble a rack of ribs, is both a feat of modern engineering and shrewd marketing.

It garners almost as much attention for its pseudo-meat shape as its impermanence on restaurant menus.

The barbecue-sauce-smothered sandwich was supposed to return at the end of October, but was pushed back to help boost end-of-the-year sales.

Better late than never.

Do you remember ROY ROGER’S ROAST BEEF and MINNIE PEARL’S FRIED CHICKEN?

I got a milk shake at McDonalds once. Never again. Same for SONIC.

It was not ice cream, it was some sort of whipped topping with a little ice cream in the bottom.

The “ingredients in a yoga mat” are also contained in just about everything that is organic on the planet. Hydrocarbon hyperbole at it’s best...

I like them too, especially with a super size, extra large Coke and fries. Tastes like freedom!

After having read most of the comments here I can only conclude it's all a matter of taste not what's in the McRibs since most comments on the ingredients are just a rehash of what the poster has read or heard.

Consider this simple fact: All the foods we eat every day contain hundreds of chemicals we've never heard of and many of them are carcinogenic (cancer causing) so as an argument against these foods it fails.
Fast foods have way too much salt and fat and sugar to be a regular meal but so does potato chips and frosted cake.

Personally I can't stand the hamburgers but that's taste and preference which alone is sufficient to skip fast foods without the “hundreds of chemicals” and “tripe, hearts and stomachs” nonsense.

"Do you remember ROY ROGER’S ROAST BEEF..?"
My first job! Those were 100% real roasts.
Occasionally, when we sliced them we would chip a blade from buckshot in the roast. Seems frustrated hunters who got skunked would shoot cows just for the sake of shooting something.
I used to add the roast beef to the Double-R-Bar burger (a cheese burger with ham) to create my own version of goodness! Filling even for a sixteen year old boy!

I read the article and still like the McRib. I had one just yesterday and loved it. I am a willing slave to big corporate food companies, Cheetos, Oreos, Betty Crocker boxed scalloped potatoes...

“contains a mixture of tripe, heart, and scalded stomach”

OK, that just killed it for me. Never again.

I had one of those McRib sandwiches just last night.
There was so much delicious BBQ sauce on it, the “meat” could have been anything.

I eat things other people won't touch. I enjoyed the McRib.

I thought I was the only one! I remember that I would make my own burger: cheeseburger, ham, roast beef, a fried egg, bacon, raw onions, and mayo. All of it was real food, and so delicious (the buns were heavily buttered with real butter). I was so sad when Hardees bought them out, and turned the restaurant into a monstrosity.

I wish I had thought of the egg and onions! Brilliant!
I was told Hardee's wanted the rights to Pappy Parker's fried chicken. What they serve today is so far from Pappy's... I do sometimes go in for their monster biscuit but I have them add country ham. As some things change, some things stay the same.

My coworker had an even better idea. We were meticulous about rotating the chicken, meaning we often had chicken destined for the trash. He used to load up his Double-R-Burger with chicken skin. I only wish that I had at least tried this.

Additives other than beef. Yeah, there is some beef in the Arby's sandwiches PLUS additives.

Clark Griswold was the first thing that came to my mind as well. I’m not in the industry but would think that he’d be the perfect pitchman for non-nutritive food varnishes...

Their fried chicken was better than KFC and gave regional favorites Churches and Popeye’s a run for their money. Did Arby’s buy them out? I thought it was somebody else, Hardee’s maybe, Whoever it was, they carreied the Roy Rogers chicken for several years but it kept slipping and eventually disappeared from the menu. Seems I recall Roy Rogers having the “Horsey Sauce” horseradish mayo.
