Young men giving up on marriage: ‘Women aren’t women anymore’
Life Site News ^ | 1-10-13 | Hilary White

Fewer young men in the US want to get married than ever, while the desire for marriage is rising among young women, according to the Pew Research Center.

Pew recently found that the number of women 18-34 saying that having a successful marriage is one of the most important things rose from 28 percent to 37 percent since 1997. The number of young adult men saying the same thing dropped from 35 percent to 29 percent in the same time.

Pew’s findings have caught the attention of one US writer who maintains that feminism, deeply entrenched in every segment of the culture, has created an environment in which young men find it more beneficial to simply opt out of couple-dom entirely.

Suzanne Venker’s article, “The War on Men,” which appeared on the website of Fox News in late November, has become a lodestone for feminist writers who have attacked her position that the institution of marriage is threatened, not enhanced, by the supposed gains of the feminist movement over the last 50 years.

“Where have all the good (meaning marriageable) men gone?” is a question much talked about lately in the secular media, Venker says, but her answer, backed up by statistics, is not to the liking of mainstream commentators influenced by feminism.

She points out that for the first time in US history, the number of women in the workforce has surpassed the number of men, while more women than men are acquiring university degrees.

“The problem? This new phenomenon has changed the dance between men and women,” Venker wrote. With feminism pushing them out of their traditional role of breadwinner, protector and provider – and divorce laws increasingly creating a dangerously precarious financial prospect for the men cut loose from marriage – men are simply no longer finding

Women these days are very aggressive. Men like to pursue, it’s in their nature. Now... women pursue.

I had a friend whose teenage son was constantly being pursued by various women. They would shove into his pockets their names and phone numbers, call him at all hours of the day, and she even found one in his closet.

It’s so pathetic.

It’s not unusual that your ex hates you, what’s unusual and becoming common is when your future ex whom you haven’t yet married hates you!

and that men are much better suited to single life now than they are.

Yep, Men hike, hunt, fish, go to the bar with their buddies, bowl, and even play video games and have lots of other fun hobbies

Meanwhile, women go to the mall to buy shoes and throw birthday parties for their pets

I think men are winning this one

S'ok. Now, I've got a tiny little matchbox of a house with ONE closet in the entire house. No room for anyone else's stuff, and no, they can't stay the night. No more losses. ;)

I love wimmenz. Mom was one. My daughters are wimmenz. My granddaughters will grow up to be wimmenz some day. My best friends are wimminz. But no more are allowed in the house for any length of time.

After 30 years of living in houses with 2 bathrooms, and still mostly having to go out back to pee, I'll keep the single thing. It's working out well for me.

One of the reader's comments were better than the article. In part they said:

Feminism on the other hand was primarily driven by Communists who wished to make women workers subservient to the State contributing to production and consumerism. Basically cogs in the machine. The Church, Family, children and patriarchs and Marriage stood in the way. So these had to be destroyed so that the people would depend on the state and work for the benefit of the state. That is feminism's origin. The rise of feminism and increased socialism and communism and practical atheism is all part and parcel of everything we observe happening around us.

Excellent!

I can do whatever I want without explaining exactly why the transmission is in the bathtub.

Careful not to get soap and water into the transmission. Or is not using the bathtub the reason you aren't married? ;)

The blame for this is not known to most people, but it is very deductive.

If you get a puppy, and never socialize it with other dogs, it will still want to mate, but it will see other dogs as “the enemy”. Why would people think that human children are any different?

In our society, boys and girls are effectively segregated from each other, both “self segregated”, and segregated by adults who consume their time with tasks for them to perform instead of socializing.

Most people assume that children are socialized “in school or church”, but this is not the case. They are too busy and in school are shuffled from class to class and school to school, with different students in each.

What they do not have is a polite, chaperoned social situation, for years, where they are kept from self segregating by gender, yet are not so directed by doing something that they cannot get to know each other, and the opposite gender.

In such a setting they would have to compete and cooperate, act in two and more person teams with the same people for a long time; doing things, thinking about things, and sharing emotions.

Children raised in such a situation no longer see the other gender as utterly alien, that they are people too, not great but also not bad, but mostly normal.

For children raised like this, dehumanized sexuality has far less attraction than the prospect of having a lasting and pleasant, intimate relationship with someone they are compatible with.

I've got a 55 gallon drum of rainwater next to the back porch. Sure, it's a little chilly this time of year, but it works. ;)

You are a good man and I know you mean well.

But that just ain't so.

There may be millions of women looking for a meal ticket...but there are not millions of women looking for a Christian marriage (despite what they might say).

There are millions of desperate women alright...but there are also millions of desperate and hungry Great White sharks.

Choose the sharks...and avoid the real killer species.

Now, that said, are there some magnificent Godly women out there. You bet!

But you will have to swim among the Great White Sharks to find them.

Luckily for you, God will find a way to introduce you.

But make no mistake...you will be swimming in the open sea. Keep tabs on you appendages.

IIRC, it was three divorces, four wives. (I’m a huge Lewis Grizzard fan.)

While I agree with everything you posted, you get my Golden Phallus Award for using the word "tergiversations" accurately and naturally in a sentence. I haven't actually heard or seen that word used since a teacher long, long ago elaborated the meanings of it and "ratiocination." Somehow, neither crops up very often in today's "text-speak."

Oh yeah, there was one other word's meaning he impressed upon my eager mind: "virago." It seems more than apropos to the context of this thread.

Why is the transmission in the bathtub?

But then that is a mystery to be solved...not a reason for divorce.

What mystery? Obviously it won't fit in the dishwasher like small engine parts will.

As a young male, I have to agree with this article. Most of my friends have no desire to get married and would rather just remain bachelors. Due to my conservative values, I’m obviously much more inclined to exclusivity, but the dating scene is quite abysmal for conservatives. I have no desire to date a girl who voted for Obama or holds liberal or feminist viewpoints, so that eliminates a strong majority of young females.

Additionally, I fully intend on signing a pre-nup. I’ve watch divorce ravage a couple of siblings, so I fully intend on protecting my assets. The way I look at it, if the girl intends on spending the rest of her life with me, she should have no problem signing a pre-nup attesting to ti.

It’s very difficult to find a girl who shares the same values as me, as well as the same religion. I’m currently dating a girl of another faith (I’m Catholic, she’s Jewish) and although we hold the same values, politically and morally, the religious disconnect may be too much in the future.
