Woman can't stop eating cat hair, says it's like 'cotton candy'

We know you're out there, cat lovers, but how much do you REALLY love your cat? Have you ever actually tasted your feline? Meet Lisa, who loves her kitty so much that she eats the fur.

The 43-year-old Michigan woman, featured in the upcoming season of TLC's "My Strange Addiction," snacks on a smidge of cat hair every two hours and has downed more than 3,200 hairballs over the past 15 years.

She doesn't cough them up cat-style, either: She swallows them.

The fur gourmand explains that she eats fur off the floor and furniture, but that "the best ones are right off the cat."

I had a dentist appoitnment yesteray.
I know, shocking.
Little ole wraith me having ot see a dentist.
[Hey, possessing bodies is hard, they break you know!]

So what happens?
Get told “Hey, we’re going to stick this fluoride gel on those chompers.”

The stuff smelled like mint but tasted like what you’d expect rubber cement to taste like.
Felt like rubber cement too.

I have no need or urge to eat any cat hair.
Though if you are owned by cats you end up eating enough of their hair because they share with you.

So do dogs.
Reptiles don’t share, so they’re superior in that respect.

But AZ rattlers don’t have hair to share.

My wife has me limited out at 2; a very spoiled 2.

I don't remember what it's like to have only 2, it's been so long since I had that few. LOL! But even with as many as we have, we spoil them.

So I guess you have enough imports that you don’t need any domestic production of kittehs? :)

Exactly! LOL! Babeh kittehs only happen when a preggers kitteh shows up on the doorstep. Or when a kitten is dumped. Our most recent newbie was about 4 months old when she showed up.

Jmo: She only drinks colas, eats junk foods, and cat hair. After years of consuming small amounts of cat feces in cat hair, she may have brain parasites, also, of which there is no cure.

My unofficial diagnosis: She needs iron, calcium, and zinc and in addition, she would benefit from a healthier diet, including food sources of manganese found in spinach, kale, chard, raspberries, pineapple, strawberries, romaine lettuce, collard greens, garlic, summer squash, grapes, turnip greens, eggplant, and brown rice.

FWIW, if you’re thinking of Toxoplamosis gondii, there are several antibiotics that are effective against it. (If you’re not, never mind.)

I pretty much figured the zoonoses angle was already locked in.

If I were her, I’d be getting tested for them.

Even Toxo can be treated somewhat.

[don’t know if the brain damage can be undone, though]

There is a farm about 5 miles from me that I drove by one afternoon when it was feeding time for their kitties. There must have been at least 40 or 50 of some of the most beautiful cats that I have ever seen, being fed. It was quite a site. I have watched for them being fed, as on occasion I have driven by, but have not seen them again. The site of so many gorgeous, happy looking cats in one place, outdoors. was really something to behold.

That’s the good thing about living on a farm - - plenty of room for the cats to roam and not be a bother to others. Plenty of room for each cat to have their own “territory”, too. Makes ‘em all happy.

The folks on the farm close to you probably have the same problem we have. People driving around looking for some place to dump their unwanted cats see a barn and figure, “There’s a place that needs a mouser.” It’s good to know they’re taking them in and taking good care of them.
I need to tell Hubby that we aren’t the only crazy cat people. LOL!

We're up to 10 right now, ruh-roh.... But... the vet who comes to our house knows we take only the finest care with them, no CommieCare for them...

Antibiotics are effective against parasites, but sadly, after they’ve eaten holes in your brain, the damage is irreversible.

True. The trick is to catch them first. (I can see why the woman in the OP might be disadvantaged in this department.)
