Bill Gates: ‘Some days I wish we had a system like the UK’ to give Obama more power
The Daily Caller ^ | 3/14/2013 | Nicholas Ballasy

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, the wealthiest American, said on “some days” he wishes the U.S. political system were like England’s, so that President Barack Obama could have “slightly more power.”

Gates was asked for his assessment of President Obama’s job performance during an interview at Politico’s “Playbook Cocktails” event.

“Some days I wish we had a system like the U.K. where, you know, the party in power could do a lot and you know, you’d see how it went and then fine you could un-elect them,” said Gates on Wednesday.

“Now, over time, our system has worked slightly better than theirs, theirs has worked okay but so it’s ironic that right now it feels like I wish there was slightly more power in the presidency to avoid some of these deadlocks. So I think what he [Obama] wants to do and what he’s actually able to do, the gap is so big there that it’s hard to know in some ways.”

Gates praised President Obama for his education policy and commended former President George W. Bush for The President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Reminder to Microsoft fans - Gates' company isn't a whit better than Apple regarding politics!

This may be of interest to the Apple ping list...

Fully agree!

Apple and Google are just as bad, though Google may be the worst of the lot.

I will not get a “smart phone” until I can get one with Ubuntu Touch or FireFox OS PRE-INSTALLED! I don’t want to spend any money on any MS, Apple, or Google product if I can help it.

Both companies rely too heavily on an interventionist government to tilt the table in their direction.

Advocating more power for THE FOREIGNER may be the dumbest statement I have heard since COLIN POWELL stated he voted for his second term because of his ECONOMIC POLICIES.

Some days I wish we had a system like the UK so when he lost the "House of Commons" in 2010 he would have been shipped back to Illinois.

I wonder if that’s what he was thinking back when Mr. Klein was leading US vs MS?

Can you imagine Barry handling Question Period?

Nah, me neither.

The guy who got rich selling almost-ready-for-market software should shut him mouth and be happy he lives in a country that still lets him keep most of his riches.
In a communist country, which he is hoping for, he and doctors would be getting 80k a year and a tollbooth collector would be getting 48k.

Bill, if we had a system like the UK, then the House of Representatives would be picking the Prime Minister, right? Then they would go ahead an implement their agenda.

FYI, Pennsylvania Turnpike toll both collectors are already pulling down 48K or more per year and those in New York City about double that (or more).

That being said,

Some days I wish we could still pass Bills of Attainder for people like Bill Gates.

He also thinks it is wise to kill people to protect the Earth. A bit of a conflicted soul, I would say.

A simple bill declaring Windows source code to be in the Public Domain would suffice...

If we had a system like the U.K then we’d be talking about Prime Minister Boehner.

Then why doesn’t this asshat just move to the UK? No real American wants him here. Nor anyone else with that sort of attitude

Yeah Gates and Ballmer were big donors to the Wash St gay marriage initative.

Apple is run by a gay guy.

Per FReeper dictums our only allowable platform is Linux.

And we’ve also ruled out all currently operating US retail stores for any shopping.

Then move there, Bill, and be sure to take the Obamas with you, and do not come back.

That is the one thing I wish we could import from Britain.
