When police arrived, they noticed a window in the garage was smashed, the front door of the house was off its hinges, and the mailbox was dented and bloody.
Enix kept yelling "Come on!" from inside the home, according to the report.
He leaned out of an upstairs window and yelled that police would either have to shoot or taze him before he would be arrested again. When he realized one of the officers was equipped with a less-lethal shotgun, Enix retreated back inside the house.
When asked to negotiate, he told police that all he wanted to do was smoke meth. When an officer told him that he couldn't do that, Enix allegedly said, "I'll come down if one officer with balls will come inside and get me."
Police asked him many times if he would be compliant if they sent one officer in, but Enix would not respond. They even asked him if they could "just go get a beer ... once he came down and got everything cleared up," says the report.
Eventually the officer explained that, if he didn't come out peacefully, a dog would be sent into the home. This brought Enix out of the home with his hands up.

ROFL! Okay, I can wrap my head around a “non-lethal” shotgun; farmers have been shooting vandals in the butt with those for years.
But “less-lethal”... ? It seems that dead is like pregnant, it’s a condition you either HAVE or HAVE NOT.
Then again, in the hands of (say) a blind shooter, I suppose *any* shotgun would be “less lethal”.

Less-lethal is a term used by the manufactures of the shells.

This story is a great example of how badly drugs can mess up your life. You have a good-for-nothing, addicted loser who is so obsessed with drugs that he still wants to smoke meth even with the police at his door. I know of one person who was being evicted from his apartment and as people were moving his things out, he was in the bathroom smoking crack because he were so obsessed with it. Addiction can be brutal. If you know any kids who are thinking about trying drugs, give them a copy of this story and explain that there is a risk that they will end up like this.

The way it’s worded it sounds like he was okay with being shot and killed but didn’t like the idea of being wounded.
Meth is a heck of a drug.
My Mom, GOD rest her soul, used rubber hair rollers that looked JUST like those slugs.
My guess is, the C-suite ordered Engineering to build a NON-LETHAL shotshell. Marketing went to work and created packaging and brochures touting NON-LETHAL. Everything was ready to go!
And then Legal got hold of it and changed the wording to “Less Lethal”. :-)
I remember them. My Mother used similar hair rollers. They had a plastic cage around the outside that clamped shut on the hair. Them things were OLD in the 50s-60s when I saw them. She was a beautician in the mid-1940s thru the mid-1950s.
Most criminals aren’t too bright to begin with. Add illicit drugs to the equation, and you get a special kind of stupid.
A shot to the head, the chest near the heart, or even an unflexed abdomen, and you’ll likely die.
I took a rubber bullet to the thigh once on a dare. I had a limp for over a month and my leg was black and blue for 6 weeks.

We were at the gun range with some local LEO friends. One of them had a box of LTL rounds. There was a riot in the bad part of town the week before, and one of the guys was extolling the virtues of the LTL shotgun. I was being brazen, said I bet it just stings and that I could take a shot to the leg and still walk. Boy was I wrong!
less-lethal is rubber slugs. the vast majority of the time, they won’t kill. throat, temple or eye shot is good possibilty of kill, if the target has weak bones or already broken bones, a bone fragment could sever an artery or puncture a vital organ.
