Good Morning, Everybody, and a very Happy August at Amy’s Place!
What a Great Picture, MEG!
Best wishes and ((((HUGS))) to you and your beautiful family!
That must have been wonderful to have all your family together at the same time, MEG. Family is everything. You are blessed.....but I know you already know that. :-)
Thanjk you, ML..That picture made me laugh..The twins discovered the stairs and I was playing gatekeeper..LOL
Having Navy Grrandsson here on leave made it so special. and complete..They have been transferred to Mayport and just moved to Jacksonville..Fla..They love it so far.
GOPs Belsito wins in the 53rd special election 1910 to 1356 (58%)
Sam, you made us proud
Crushed that unknown progressive dreamer
A Dem seat, in the shadows of the University
Dems depressed, avoided making a showing
GOP voters, energized for a day
A message for Malloy, or so they think
Pete, honored to be part of the team
but huddled at home the final 48 hours
just too much, too much for my psyche
if this is victory, who needs defeat
Indeed..I am so blessed.
It is so special to see ALL together..My niece was with us, too..She just left for her home..She did grocery shopping for me..YAY..I am pooped..but happy.
Good morning, ltos! Happy August!
That’s not too far from me!
Thank You, Mama Bear, and Happy August to You Too!
Awesome to “see” you with that sweetie, Megs! (((hugs)))
I am so glad they like it there.
*Grin* The twins are walking up a storm..I want a transfusion of their energy!
I hear ya! Every time I spend time with Piper, I’m worn out...in a good way! :)
That area is beautiful...and very close to WONDERFUL St Augustine.
When the kids get older that will be a terrific day trip.
The twins belong to my eldest grandson and his wife..
Navy grandson and his wife don’t have any youngsters..though they hope to.
I will be sure and tell them about St Augustine.
Just discovered this thread. How wonderful it is! So positive, and I never saw so many cute, pretty, and inspirational graphics before!
There are all kinds of cool attractions there, plus a beautiful beach!
I would ride five hours on my Harley to go there, and have done it more than once! :-)
I googled..St Augustine looks like a great place to visit.
My favorite place is the Old Fort. Since it is the oldest city in the USA, there are over 500 years of history to explore!
Hi Meg! Great picture, and the little guy looks like he’s hard to keep up with!
Welcome! Amy’s Place is “the best”. Been hanging around here for years now. The Daily Bread post is wonderful to read everyday. I get that on my ping list.
August in Texas is Very Hot, and I Bake whenever I Go Outside, Lol.
Looking Forward to Next Spring, and Spring's Lovely Flowers.
(((((Hugs and Heaven's Blessings to you and your Family)))))
May I add you to our ping list? Then it will make it easier for you to find us. You can opt out any time. :-)
Our weather here in the California central valley is so much like many parts of Texas. Hot and dry all summer. I do love the heat so much more than the damp cold of winter. But even I have my limits. July has been extremely hot here. August probably won't be much different.
Sending you cyber hugs! Hope all is well with you and yours. :-)
Many years ago, my father and I hiked through Big Bend in Texas. Its a national park now, but in those days it was rough country.
One night we were rolling out our sleeping bags when a couple with a dog asked if they could camp nearby. We welcomed their company and turned in for the night. They tethered their dog to a stake beside their tent.
Some hours later my father nudged me awake and turned his flashlight into the darkness. Illuminated by the light, we saw pairs of yellow eyes peering out of the shadows. A pack of snapping and snarling coyotes were closing in on the dog. Although we chased them off and our neighbors put the dog in their tent, we slept fitfully.
I think of that night when I read Psalm 59 and Davids twice-repeated imagery: At evening they return, they growl like a dog (vv.6,14). David was thinking of Sauls army that was closing in on him. I think, however, of the thoughts that return to menace us. They come back at nightfall, snapping and snarling: Youre stupid. Youre a failure. Youre useless. Who needs you?
When we have such thoughts, we can revel in Gods unconditional, unending love. His steady devotion is our refuge in the dark night of self-doubt and fear (v.16).
Read: Psalm 59
Yea! good to see you putting up the thread while Amy vacations!
I post the Porch first of the month also & try to always check in here at that time as my memory is jolted a bit.
and memory... HTML.. If I had to do one of our LONG daily openings from the Finest I think I would be hard pressed. I recall the hours each day to do those things. It was fun but difficult & just one little bitty “oppsy” and your thread was a super mess.
Now to read the thread
Love to all
Love your pix Meg!!!
And LOVED when we were stationed at Mayport. We lived at Neptune Beach .. 5 min walk from beach & I taught at the high school there. Hubby was on Shangri La, now decommissioned
Ponte Vedre, St.Augestine, Kayaking the backwaters, biking the beach roads..so many good memories.
Yes, Mama Bear, please add me to the ping list! Thank you kindly! I appreciate the lovely welcome!!
I have forgotten so much! HTML is one of those things that you need to do often or you forget how. Thank goodness Amy has the code for the opening saved. All I had to do was copy and paste. I would hate to have to hand code all of that again! I remember one particular evening when I needed to post a thread at the Finest and my code was a total mess. I could not find my error. I spent hours on it and come to find out it was one little center command out of place that messed up all the tables. So frustrating!
Thanks for stopping by Dolly. You are one of the busiest people I know. I sure can't keep up with you! Have a great August!
Ive noticed through the years that those who have suffered are quick to comfort other sufferers. When a young couple suffers the loss of a child, another couple who also lost a child in the past asks if they can help. If a couple loses their main income, almost immediately another couple steps forward to offer their aid, remembering their own journey through foreclosure years earlier. Again and again we see the body of Christ supporting and encouraging one another. These Christians have learned that they can use the trials theyve been through to reach out to others going through similar difficulties.
Have you been sick? Lost a loved one? Been imprisoned? Unfairly treated? In all of our trials, God promises to bring something good out of even our darkest moments (James 1:2-4). One key way this takes place is when we share the comfort He offered us with those who are now going through trials.
As Paul points out in 2 Corinthians 1:3-7, we are comforted by a Savior who knows our suffering, and we honor Him when we pass His comfort on to still others.
May we never leave someone to suffer alone. If we know the trail another is on, God will help us to guide that person to His presencethe surest comfort of all.
Read: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Thank you for your sweet comments on my picture!
It is often said ... we do not know what tomorrow will bring. We have fears, uncertainties, and seemingly difficult challenges, illness, job loss, etc. God is always there for believers coming to Him. We are to rest on the certainty, God is for us and has plans for us. Let us rest in His assurance.
Thank Thee LORD for thy grace, love, mercy, goodness, blessings, everlasting eternal security, in Jesus name amen.
Amen..Thank you, Rus
“Praise God from whom all blessing flow
Praise Him all creatures here below_
Praise Him above the Heavenly Host,
Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost, Amen.
To me it is sad that today’s churches have stopped many of the basics the church taught and did for many years. It deprives todays youths of security and faith. All in an attempt to not do ‘old fashioned’ teachings.
God and His Word is NEVER ‘old fashioned’.
It is alive and vital to hear and obey. MOO!
