A town dating back more than 2,000 years has been discovered on the northwest coast of the Sea of Galilee, in Israel's Ginosar valley.
The ancient town may be Dalmanutha (also spelled Dalmanoutha), described in the Gospel of Mark as the place Jesus sailed to after miraculously feeding 4,000 people by multiplying a few fish and loaves of bread, said Ken Dark, of the University of Reading in the U.K., whose team discovered the town during a field survey.

Excellent. Archeology proves the Bible again.

RE: described in the Gospel of Mark as the place Jesus sailed to after miraculously feeding 4,000 people by multiplying a few fish and loaves of bread
OK, which is it, 5,000 or 4,000?
“what difference does it make?” :-)
Two accounts. Don’t make me look it up. Might be two occasions.
RE: Two accounts. Dont make me look it up. Might be two occasions.
Well, this article talks about the Gospel of Mark.
From the NIV (Mark 6:43-44):
“43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.”
I wonder when the other occasion was?
The Gospel of Mark records both as separate instances. Mark 6 and Mark 8.
I remember a radio station in San Diego reporting that astronomers discovered a comet and predicted it would strike the earth in 100,000 years killing the planet and all inhabitants. A woman called in a panic saying she hadn’t been listening closely. When would the comet strike? The DJ responded with 100,000 years to which she replied, her panic subsided, “Thank God, I thought you said 10,000 years!” So I can see how accuracy is important.
FEEDING THE 4,000. Mark 8:1-10
MARK 8:1-10
8 During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 2 I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. 3 If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.
4 His disciples answered, But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?
5 How many loaves do you have? Jesus asked.
Seven, they replied.
6 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. 7 They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them. 8 The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 9 About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away, 10 he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.
also in Mark 8: 18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And dont you remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?
Twelve, they replied.
20 And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?
They answered, Seven.
21 He said to them, Do you still not understand?
If the archaeologists can find some bread crumbs, that could clinch the identification of the site as Dalmanutha.

What more is there to say? This stuff is nothing more than affirmation of Biblical history.
In high school, a Religion class was required, and the book we had as students combined religion and history. I’ve never forgotten that class, or the overall lesson I learned: One cannot separate geological history from theological history.
I wish I had that textbook today...

Pretty cool! The more that is found, the more confident I am that folks who discount the Old Testament just refuse to accept history.
