Cash Back on EBT Cards
10-07-2013 | Self

Posted on 10/07/2013 12:05:01 PM PDT by Captain Peter Blood

I was in Walmart the other night and saw something I did not know was available. As I was standing in the checkout line a woman was using her Food Stamp EBT card to buy stuff and at the end of the transaction she was able to get money back on the EBT card like you can with a debit card. I enquired about this and was informed that a change had been made by Government that permitted this. So you can get a cash back on a EBT Card then are able to buy things not on the approved list like tobacco products and alcohol. So another reason for me to hate paying my taxes.

You, too, just found out about welfare? How did you avoid the topic all these years?

I find it absolutely incredible that people believe this.

It’s not SNAP, it’s one of the other welfare giveaways that working people are forced to give to.

The cashier was merely mistaken. She doesn’t need to know where the money came from.
It came from you and her, that’s all that matters.

There really is no co-mingling. The accounts are separate, with separate qualifications, reviews, and benefits independent of the other program.

Welfare has always been in the form of cash, with few restrictions on how it is used (some states do restrict use of the cards at casinos, etc.). The recipient can use the welfare for additional food, rent, car payment, or even beer, in most cases, or, rarely, save it.

It’s welfare 2.0. A whole new animal.

The pressure is going to be on now to make some sort of deal.

The Republicans have offered bills that fund important functions.

Obama is the one who said he would not negotiate.

Obama wants to kill children with cancer and make old people starve.

I think the cashier was simply observing that things were changed so that both types of benefits are accessible from the same card now. The cashier does know which program any given transaction is coming from.

Switzerland is about to institute a Guaranteed Minimum Income for all citizens (about $36,000 per year).

Sooner or later I imagine we’ll drop all the pretense about forcing people to eat the right foods and do likewise.

TANF = Temporary Assistance for Needy Families

I take it that’s as temporary as the Affordable Care Act is affordable.

For food stamps, there should be a special store just for them. Staples only, beans, fruit, vegetables, meat, rice, bread, milk, juice, etc. No processed foods, no premade frozen dinners, just ingredients and basics only, and their card can only be used at these stores. Be good for everybody as they can’t buy junk, or tier one cuts of steak and lobster, but also working folks like you and I won’t have to get stuck behind the 400 lb woman with her gaggle of screaming morbidly obese 8 year olds.

I hope you added a “you are welcome” as you walked off. I always do and my wife fears confrontation one day.

“Family” has pretty much be redefined as well.

For TANF, it means “female with kid(s)” .

40 acres and a mule is saying “here’s some resources for you to make your own living”.

And the response is:
“Ain’t nobody got time for dat!”

It’s a mediocrity trap.

But a lot of things are going to have to change in order to get sanity back to the country, the chief one being a spiritual awareness and acceptance of God again. Judeo-Christian spirituality got the USA to heights that were the envy of the world. Dumping it has brought decline and chaos. Trying to fix just welfare is like trying to nail jello to a tree or trying to catch just one of the plagues that came out of the figurative pandora’s box and call it a day.

A local tv station here in Indy got a digital file of TANF card swipes for Indiana card users.

Disney (Ca and Fl), Vegas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Nevada brothels, casinos, you name it.
