"The Carta marina is Waldseemüller’s most original creation," Van Duzer said. "He began his cartographic career by redrawing Ptolemy, but ended it by creating something entirely new, a mosaic image of the world with each stone of his own careful choosing."

A subject of great interest ot me. ;-)

"Maps I'll find for you both old and rare. Maps will I seek for you of lands both dark and fair. Maps for you, would I pursue. Maps you could follow should you dare to choose to. Maps I will glean for you of lands some have never seen, and places you may visit if only in dream."

I like maps, but I am fascinated by Masonic writings, rites and symbols.

Kartographer,

One of the very first websites I ever really saw cool stuff on was a cartography website. I originally found it as a gopher site, while doing some Veronica searches relating to correlations of fiber network maps and old maps of railroads. I remember it taking a long time to download some of the images of old maps they had.

Sadly, the link doesn't appear to work any more.
