Cher told her fans on Wednesday that she does not celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, she appears to deplore the American holiday, calling in the “beginning of a great crime.” Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership and also intentionally infected them with smallpox.

“You don’t celebrate the holiday I thought?” a fan asked Cher.

“I DON’T,” Cher replied emphatically. She said that, to her, Thanksgiving is a day to see family, eat food together and watch a movie. “Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime.”

When asked why she believed this by another fan, Cher explained: “Stealing Land, from a ppl, Who believed, Owning Land Was LIke Owning SKY!”

“We gave them Blankets laced w/ Smallpox,” Cher concluded.

It is said to predate the French and Indian wars...

Then it also predates germ theory. Wasn't the issue with aboriginals and smallpox that they had zero previous exposure to it?

Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership...
...so, if they no concept of property ownership, A) how did they even know it had been taken away, B) how could it have *been* taken away from them, since they never owned it, and C) why would they give a s***?
...and also intentionally infected them with smallpox.
I remember a supermarket tabloid story years ago, purporting to quote Sonny Bono, who lamented his ex-wife's stupidity, that she'd not known that the Sun and the Moon weren't two different objects in the sky, for example, that she was stupid. Well, I used to not believe the story. Thanks Kip Russell.

Yes, and I have maintained from the beginning that in those days they knew nothing about bacteria and viruses and couldn’t have possibly known there was any disease carrying virus in the blankets. It has always seemed to me to be just another anti-white man smear.

Would you have sex with someone you knew had HIV on the condition that a condom be used? Would you knowingly handle blankets infected with a deadly pathogen, just so you could go and give them to people you wanted dead? I think not.

Knowing, no. But as I was just discussing with another person, in those days they had no idea what caused disease, and they sure didn’t know the blankets had anything in them to cause smallpox. The more I think about it the more I think they probably didn’t know if the Indians suffered from smallpox before the British got there!

Miasma theory predated germ theory. We’ll always have a theory. We may not be right, but we’ll always have a theory.

Well, this is America and she can say what she wants. And of course I can NOT buy her music or see her films because she’s an arrogant feminazi, so it works both ways.

Cherokee Chief James Vann (born ca. 1765–68, Spring Place, GA) had 100 slaves and became the richest man in the Cherokee Nation, and possibly in the entire eastern U.S. at the time.

So much for Native American supposed assertions that nobody can own sky.

I never thought she was that smart to begin with, but the Botox seems to have frozen her brain, as well as her face.

Interestingly enough, the local oldies station gives that song a good deal of airplay, I’ve learned to appreciate it after hearing a karaoke version on The Simpsons years ago.

and that Lincoln outlawed slavery by one Indian tribe against another ?

Lincoln was a Republican. Leftists don't acknowledge contributions by Republicans.

Reading this thread has been helpful. Just read a facebook posting from my idiot nephew-ya gotta luv family. Here is his post:
“Today I am thankful our forefathers slaughtered the indigenous people of this land so we could spend tomorrow trampling each other to death in a glorious consumption celebration”.

Good Lord I can’t believe I am related to this arrogant elitist pinhead. I couldn’t even respond. Whats the point.

You know, just this morning I was wondering, “what does Cher think about Thanksgiving?”

Yeah, me too. I'm thrilled we have a thread dealing with this banality.

She is well on the down side of the slide to forgetfulness.

What is she about 80 years old now?
